Archbishop of Wales, Dr Barry Morgan, has made some comments that have offended some of us atheists. Read this short article and see what you think. Is this an attack our views? I pray to scientists that its not.

I see 9/11 and I see Shock and 'Awe' but Ive got to be honest I dont see athiest fundementalism (in the sole name of atheism). Atheism is not a religion or faith in its own right. Its about not buying into anything that does not have proof. No holy book or god to look up to, just take things as they are here on earth.

This "doctor" is equating enthusiasm with fundamentalism. Atheists (and other non-Christians as well) are finally standing up and saying "We're mad as hell and we're not going to take it any more!"

If you think it's bad over there, try living in Jesusland (America) for a while. A person can't get elected to office if s/he doesn't proclaim to be a good church or synagogue-goer, and atheist-bashing is still a national sport. It's better than it used to be for atheists but we have a long way to go before we even get to where the UK is now.

It's tiring to constantly have to defend reason against the brainless behemoth of blind belief!

Nice try troll.
You're no more an atheist than I'm the archbishop of Canterbury...

As for the news story, the man obviously has NO clue what he's talking about. Fundamentalism relies on unshakable and blind faith in something that cannot exist.
Atheists use logic, reason and proof as their basis for reality.
Which is why atheism will never be thought of as a religion. Oh, except by those morons who feel some sort of need to lie about that...

An attack on what views? The article doesn't really seem to be presenting a belief in the existence of gods, the absence of which is the only aspect of atheism.

I think there is a certain irony in someone claiming that the attacks on his faith, which obviously by definition, is not reason based and could therefore be said to be irrational in itself, are "virulent, almost irrational".

However, it does not matter. We have freedom of speech and I am happy for him to have his say. So long as he doesn't object to me having mine.

Fundamentalism relies on unshakable and blind faith in something that cannot exist.

Such as the foolish belief the Marx was correct and the State is the Source.

A quote from the article....

"In his Christmas message, he said: "Any kind of fundamentalism, be it Biblical, atheistic or Islamic, is dangerous."

Notice how he conveniently left out "Christian fundamentalism"???? Or does that just not exist, to him???

This guy is nothing more than a "pick and choose" christian, crying about how he's being "persecuted".

Yadda yadda yadda, yank yank yank, nothing new here...more of the same.....

it makes me laugh to hear about Christians complain about Christmas being turned into a non religious event. i wonder if the pagans back in the day where just as annoyed watching Christians steal/hijack their winter festival. since Jesus was most likely born in September

no ,this is only stating a truth,
atheists getting out of control, there should be some mechanism to explain that there is no logic in Atheism.

Ä°f you Can't see proofs, deny it, express it fanatically
invite all believers to the hell, in World and Ä°n Hereafter

He's not really attacking atheism, but fundamentalism of any kind. To me, it sounds like he's advocating more of a "live and let live" ideology.

That's what I got from reading it, anyway.
