Mostly what's going on is that you're ignoring all of the times when you didn't get what you wanted after praying for it.

I definately believe in prayer but not to get what I want. I try to not spend all my time praying asking God to give me stuff. He deserves my gratitude and confession he's not Santa Claus.

I do believe when I make a request God always answers.....No, Yes or Wait.
Sometimes what we think is something we need or want is not always what is best for us. Just like with my kids. God has the ability to see the BIG picture so he may say No because it is not what will be best in the future.
For example.......say you applied for a loan to buy a new house and you pray for it to go through and it doesn't and then a week later you lose your job. God can see the future, I trust Him to make those decisions because I know He loves me.

It's called a confirmation bias. We ignore data that don't fit our beliefs. So an unanswered prayer means nothing, but an answered prayer is proof we're right. Of course in reality it's coincidental and happens far more rarely than people like to think.

It's difficult to discern the difference. As we live in the flesh everything would have to be coincidence.
We are also spirit and when living in relationship with God, we seek and ask for His Providence and care over our meager lives.
I pray for protection over my life and my loved ones and I see it. Coincidence?
I pray for financial blessings and I receive it. Coincidence?
I pray over my sick wife and/or children and they get better. Coincidence? (My unbelieving neighbor's wife died -coincidence?)
It goes on and on and on. You can take it anyway you like. I'm taking mine on faith for that's what I prayed for.

COINCIDENCE just can't happen fast enough to respond to ANSWERED PRAYERS !!! Try to explain it away if Ya want, but, it's much better to JOIN IN !
If answers to prayer is coincidental, then call me Mr. Coincidental.................because prayers are answered EVERY time I pray ...

Not necessarily. I believe G-d answers you one way or another. It just may not be HOW you wanted Him to answer, therefore you assume He didn't answer it at all! Great question, have a star!

Luck/coincidence.

If you pre-attach significance to something, and you think about it a lot, and then something happens concerning it, if you're suceptable, you're more likely to think that your prayers were answers.

i asked a similar question to this, i deciphered that its a 50/50 chance what you wanted to happen will hapen. wether it is through some divine being depends on the faith of the person. i think that vocalizing or concentrating on exactly what it is that you want helps you figure out how you can get it. bringing it to the front of your mind helps open your eyes to the opportunities that present themselves to you. i think a lot of humans are unaware of the power of themselves. they rely on others to help them through or make decisions when they are completely capable of muddling through this life on their own.
