If those were my choices, I'd go with the truth.
Willingness to accept the sometimes painful truth is an central part of the atheist character.
Fortunately for me, the truth is spectacular. The real world around me is absolutely wonderful, and while I'm not "always happy like a child", I'm a heckuva a happy person.

I'd rather be sober, and know the truth. I'm not too crazy about being an adult, though.

The truth is I'd always want to be a drunk and happy like a child.
Besides who wants to stand around on a street corner with some pamphlets when I could be having a kick a$$ time getting drunk.
I'm sure the truth is some dull fantasy like believe in god and my sooty soul will be saved somehow. Pleas ain't no guarantees that god exists. What I do know is that I need coffee. There's a Starbucks that exists down the block...I'll top it off with a beer.

A sober adult knowing the truth.
Which is why I am an atheist.

"Truth" and "happiness" are subjective terms and I really don't like answering questions like this until those terms have been clearly defined. Christian nutjobs define a crackpot fairytale as the "truth" and happiness is living a life of bootlicking, self hating subservience to an imaginary god.
But I would choose sobriety over drunken ignorance.

Truth has advocates that seek understanding. Corrupt ideas have fanatics that attempt to enforce their beliefs through intimidation and brutality....through faith.
I choose to be happy, adult, mostly sober, and to seek the truth through reason, rather than accept a corrupt idea through faith and fear of death.

I am an atheist who hasn't drank in 12 years. I guess that should answer your question.
Truth is far more important than happiness..it's not even close.

Truth is happiness. Those who think otherwise must be weak in mind, emotion and character.

i'm an atheist but not by choice, I just CAN'T believe in god. I don't, and it's impossible for me to do so.
I'd LOVE to be drunk and always happy like a child. It's actually one of my dreams LOL.
LIVING IS EASY WITH EYES CLOSED, MISUNDERSTANDING ALL YOU SEE (i'm getting that line tattooed, if you get my point)
