It is like any experience from the artistic side that has been alegated to some form of definition from the logical side of the human brain. Trying to explain away ilogical phenomenon with logical expressions just leads to frustration. And as that is what you seem to want to experience with your friend have a good time and enjoy and realize that not all of us know how to say the same thing with so many ways of expressing it.

Use equanimity. When someone says something to you that is meant to get a rise out of you, simply reply, "Is that so?" and nothing else. You're neither agreeing nor disagreeing, leaving the other person perplexed and causing them to think. And you'll feel at peace.

EDIT: She is lashing out at you because you (a Christian) represent all the things in the world she views as oppressing to her; you're her scapegoat. If equanimity is getting so many thumbs down, try telling her you know she is a beloved child of God and you love and respect that. Maybe she's hurting inside, bearing the brunt of what she views as oppression.

EDIT 2: Debating her will not accomplish anything. It'll reinforce her beliefs that you hate Jewish people. Show her loving kindness; it's the only way to change her mind and that's what the point of a debate is anyway, right?

Questioning your religion is not the same thing as oppressing it. If she's telling a lie about your feelings about Jews, then just say so. If she's asking questions about your theology, let it go. You were supposed to be studying math. Both of you participated in avoiding that.

I BEG YOUR PARDON! What is wrong with being a country hick?!?!? Are you suggesting that those of us who reside in the country and participate in farming are somehow less intelligent and less deserving of respect?

Country hicks can be religious or non-religious, but we put food on your table, oil in your car, and do the most to keep your air and water clean. If someone accuses you of being a country hick, why can you not EMBRACE it as a compliment, rather than an insult.

That's not oppressing your religion. If you consider yourself a religious person, you have to get used to explaining your views to people who don't believe the same things as you do. This SHOULD be a chance for a healthy debate--- everyone is entitled to believe whatever they want, after all, and by debating, we can see eachother's views and come to respect eachother. It;s not persecution to ask someone to explain one of the basic tenets of their faith. Next time, try actually explaining what you believe instead of crying "oppression." Oppression is when you're beheaded for what you believe in.

How could I hate Jews? When in fact i am a Jew myself? An "adopetd Jew..." Grafted into the family by God Himself, through Jesus Christ our Lord..( fig tree..book of Romans...11....leave the "Son of God stuff alone" stay away from questions that gender strife...(not wise) and, as far as "oppressing "Your" religion? don't take this so personal..ever heard the word,"gainsayers?" or vainity speaking? idle words? let things like this go in one ear, and right out the other...You really need a good teacher.."Peace!"

Uhhhm well get used to it,people will not always see eye to eye with you and if someone's commenting negatively on your beliefs you have to take it and either express your views as she has done...not everyone believes in god,I don't but I do get to say why I don't believe..life is a 2 way street you know..

well, your classmate stating her opinion isn't exactly a form of oppression. you American Christians are so damn spoiled being atop the social dung heap that you think any opposing view is "persecution". get over yourself, quit whining and read "The Fox's Book of Martyrs" so as to get a clue what true oppression and persecution looks like.

PS. hehehe. still whining. she hurt your widdle feelings. you're sooooo oppressed. **rolls eyes**

How did she know you were Christian? You had to have talked about it sometime for her to know... perhaps proselytizing? If you go around making your religious ideas public, you have to be able to deal with people who disagree with you, and, yes, insult you. Welcome to the club. Now you know what those of us in minority religions deal with, although most of us don't go around proclaiming our religion to every boob on the street and inviting this sort of response.
