When it was proven that the world was round, people gave up the belief that the world was flat. Now that we know there were dinosaurs and that species evolve, why do Christians continue to fight to teach Christian theories in educational facilities? Do you think it is moral to teach our children something that is obviously wrong?

"An inmate is suing the Utah Department of Corrections for denying him his right to practice an ancient Nordic religion while behind bars.

Michael Polk is serving time for aggravated assault and robbery. He filed a lawsuit against corrections officials in federal court, accusing them of denying him religious items that he says are necessary to practice the Asatru religion.

The religion worships ancient Nordic gods like Odin, Thor, Tyr and Heimdal.

In the lawsuit, Polk says he has been a member of the Asatru faith since 2005, and in order to properly practice it he needs items including: a Thor's Hammer, a prayer cloth, a Mead Horn used for drinking Wassail, a drum made of wood and boar skin, a rune staff and a sword."

The question is - how far does the freedom of religion extend?

And, if you are Asatru - are these accoutrements really necessary for the practice of your faith, or is this guy just a criminal whack-job?

Politics and Government, how many of us would find ourselves allied with former opponents and opposing former allies?

I spend so much time on R&S I forget that there are a lot of Christians who agree with me on many social issues and we really only disagree about whether or not there's a God.

When it comes down to it, I'm more concerned with the political side-effects of religion than whether or not God exists. I'd probably have more in common with a liberal Christian than I would with a conservative atheist.

What are you more sensitive about, your religious beliefs (or lack thereof) or your political convictions?

Anyway, here's to finding common ground -- Merry Christmas left-wing Christians!

Isn't it funny how the word "Indivisible" was placed right after the phrase "Under God" in our Pledge of Allegiance? A petty laugh at the irony to it, if I may say so myself. The mere words of "under God" has led a nation .....indivisible? I fear not.

I ask this because I see so many people say the wrong number and I wonder where they are getting it.... being that the wrong number I often see is the SAME wrong number. No hard feelings though, just an friendly inquiry.

What do you think of this statement
" An ineffably holy God, Who has the utmost aborrance for all sin, was never invented by any of Adam's fallen descendeants."

How can a sinful man have the capacity to create the concept of a sinless God. A God who would inevitably punish his sins.

What qualifies man in his fallen nature to say that there is no God.

If the atheist is true, and there is no God, where does the concept of God come from?

Please take as much time to truly read and understand the depth of what I am asking you here.

Sandy

I purchased a Norfolk Island pine last night, it is potted and I can plant it or use it again next year. While looking at the tree and starting to put lights on it, I noticed the top is wider than the bottom, kinda looks like it is upside down! Strange looking tree for sure! I m afraid the decorations will topple the tree.........

do you think its okay (if you are black) for some one of a different race to call you a '*****'? or if you are of a different race do you believe that it is okay for you to call a black person that? Even if you mean it in a "nice" way? The reason for me asking is because I hear soooo many people outside our race using the word but I don't think they fully understand how much that word has affected us! yes its a negative word but we took it and made it something SOMEWHAT positive...FOR US! i mean if you think it about black people are the most copied race on this planet. yes, we are. from clothes, to music, our bodies and our slang. I just feel kind of offended when i hear someone outside the race calling themselves that when they really have no idea what that word means and how it has affected us. But then again, we have made the word so popular that we really can't blame them. what do you think? is it okay or not? and PLEASE NO RACIST COMMENTS!!!!!! i just wanted to get other opinions

I have seen many questions on this topic lately. First, let me state that I think atheists can live moral lives...and most likely some lead more moral lives than believers.

But when asked where they get their morality from, most atheists on these questions say their parents taught them. And I think that is true. But were their parents atheists? If not, where do you think they got their morals? Maybe from the Bible...but probably from their parents. But where did they get their morals from?.......

Do you see where I am going with this? That is a fine argument, but if you trace it back far enough, I would say for the large majority of us our morals still came from the Bible/Religion in some form. Now if you can trace your ancestors back say 1000 years and all of them being non-religious...sure then maybe you didn't get them from organized religion as we know it today....but then again maybe you did...you will never know.

Another argument is that they get them from society. Well, we can go through the same exercise with any society...trace it back far enough and where do you think the basis of their laws came from?

So, my question is this.

Atheists, would you agree with the above statements? And if you don't...then where did you get your unique morals from, and do they differ or coincide with societies morals? If they coincide with societies morals...don't you think that is a bit too much of a coincidence?

A construction worker goes to the doctor and says, "Doc, I'm constipated." The doctor examines him for a minute and then says, "Lean over the table."

The construction worker leans over the table, the doctor whacks him on the *** with a baseball bat, and then sends him into the bathroom. He comes out a few minutes later and says, "Doc, I feel great. What should I do?"

The doctor says, "Stop wiping with cement bags."
