What do you think of this statement
" An ineffably holy God, Who has the utmost aborrance for all sin, was never invented by any of Adam's fallen descendeants."

How can a sinful man have the capacity to create the concept of a sinless God. A God who would inevitably punish his sins.

What qualifies man in his fallen nature to say that there is no God.

If the atheist is true, and there is no God, where does the concept of God come from?

Please take as much time to truly read and understand the depth of what I am asking you here.

Sandy

Good point, but don't expect an atheist to "read and understand in depth". I don't think that will happen here. :)

Well, some people had some very powerful imaginations. And they needed to keep other people in check, so they invented religion and a big ol' skydaddy and said that if you don't listen to these very smart and powerful men, god will get very angry with you, and after you die, you'll spend years and years and years in a very hot and miserable place.

Man created god for something to look up to, someone to give approval of whatever he wanted to do. Ever notice how when someone's going to do something really screwy, they say they prayed on it and god gave them approval?

Where does the concept of Santa Clause, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, etc., come from? People's imaginations. Someone dreamed up the Great Pumpkin on the Peanuts Halloween Special. Someone dreamed up Zeus/Jupiter and Hera/Juno and all the other Greek and Roman gods. Someone dreamed up Thor and Odin and Freya. Someone dreamed up Lakshmi and Vishnu and Siva.

People dreamed up gods to give their lives meaning and to explain what they did not have the capacity to understand. But it's the 21st century, we know better, and we should not need a skydaddy (or skymommy) to turn to for false answers.

(sigh) nothing new here.

All original gods were imaginary concepts people used to allay their fears, and help explain certain unexplainable truths about existence. That's where the concept of god comes from.

It's that simple. All the mythology means nothing. Adam, Eve, Satan, Sin, Heaven, Hell, these are made up words that mean nothing outside the context of the Christian doctrine/delusion. They have no more relevance than the Norse mythology of Odin, Thor, and Valhalla, or the Greek mythology of Zeus, Poesidon, and Hades.

ALL religions and ALL loss of religions reason bigotry and hatred. you're naive in case you think of they do no longer. What evidence could desire to I certainly have? - The Crusades, the place Christian men went and slaughtered finished tribes of Arab people because of the fact they befell to stay the place the Christian Holy Land replaced into. - The Westboro Baptist Church. sufficient stated. - Liberty college and their now deceased chief Jerry Falwell. His view on the international replaced into bigoted. - Muslims hating Israel. - North Korea burning a Christian lady on the stake for passing out Bibles. Am I asserting that Christianity is purely perpetrating bigotry? No, they have completed plenty to help this international. yet asserting they do no longer is ridiculous. As for the unique question, Christians make themselves standard each and all the time, every time. they could desire to be interior the limelight. i do no longer see lots of people who're Wiccan or Pagan bringing interest to themselves in a rustic based by ability of people who have been Christian. additionally, i did no longer say it fairly is a Christian usa. it fairly is no longer.

The Concept of God comes form the same place as the concept of atonement for ones sins and the tooth fairy – mans imagination.

Hasn’t anyone told you it is a sin to believe in God in the 21st century ?

Don't be surprised at the answers your getting to this question. It may help a little if we would just ask the questions we want to without referring to a certain group of people!

You first assume that the biblical creation story is an accurate account of history, and then go on to "prove" God must exist. Surely, you see the circular logic here.

But it is not difficult for any one of us to imagine a supremely scented being, one that smells better than all other smells, one who will punish us for our stink, but this concept has no relation to reality.
