Politics and Government, how many of us would find ourselves allied with former opponents and opposing former allies?

I spend so much time on R&S I forget that there are a lot of Christians who agree with me on many social issues and we really only disagree about whether or not there's a God.

When it comes down to it, I'm more concerned with the political side-effects of religion than whether or not God exists. I'd probably have more in common with a liberal Christian than I would with a conservative atheist.

What are you more sensitive about, your religious beliefs (or lack thereof) or your political convictions?

Anyway, here's to finding common ground -- Merry Christmas left-wing Christians!

Jesus Myth Superstar: That's okay. I won't hold it against you that you're a conservative, as long as you ignore the fact that I'm a liberal.

I would also be concerned with the political side affects of Atheism because, as a teacher, I've seen first hand how the lack of prayer and moral absolutes has impacted our society in devastating ways.

Merry Christmas to you! Jesus is the reason for the season :-)

If we were in Politics, I'm pretty sure many of my fellow atheists would hate me as much as some Christians do here, as I'm a Marxist, and I oppose representative multi-party democracy.

In general, ardent theists tend to be conservatives, while atheists tend to be more liberal, so the sides would probably stay the same.

if we are to make people understand the dangerous mixture of politics and religion then they have to see the evils associated with organized religion, and this is the place to do that.

I personally feel anybody that proudly claims to be a left-wing or a right-wing supporter is equally stupid.
