When you remove God, good old fashion value leaves also. Where do you think it came from?

There's a movie out called, "The Dumbing of America". I think that's the title, or at least close to it. It might help us understand why violence and sex are so prevalent on TV and movies.

The less educated people are, the less they are interested in things of a higher nature than the "base" instinctual ones. Since sex and violence (survival instinct) are base values, then naturally these are the first ones people gravitate towards. Once people become more educated/enlightened their interests spread to other things. And the more base interests fall by the wayside as less interesting.

One of the byproducts of education/enlightenment is a tendency to look outwards towards others, and this is where values come into play. I am not saying that knowledge is the answer. I am saying that education is vital to understanding our world enough to start caring about other people. Just think about who mostly watches TV anyway.

good old fashion values left the country, when God was kick out by the american atheists and the government let them have run of the country. kids up to the age 17 are left to run rampant. they run the streets and are left to the other kids on the street to teach them and the other kids have no idea about how to live either. the parents of today have more important things to do than take time with the brats they bring into this world. so they buy them video games, etc etc in hopes they want have to take any responsibilty from that point on and in most cases the kids never get taught anything. no respect, for other or self. no boundries are set for them to know when enough is enough. the ten commandments, use to be these boundries taught by mothers and fathers in almost every household. then their was love in the kids hearts, compassion for others was instilled in them. respect for self and others was a must when kids were taught right. parents today just don't care about their kids or how they are treating others!

Lucky there's a Family Guy, lucky there's a man who'll positively tell you all the things that makes us laugh and cry.

Seriously moral values now a days are just being used as a shield. It'll only show up in times of trouble or every time problems arises. It's the best defense anyone could afford.

This is a subtle question and honestly I can not answer it. I see bits and pieces of the whole picture but it would take several lifetimes to accumulate enough experience to try to quantify it properly. I suspect the answer has to do with the breakup of the extended family, which happened because of the changing nature of work.

People stopped listening to their mothers and gave in to the twisted patriarchal values that have developed as a natural result of us being too far removed from female societal and cultural control.

Yeah, well, early christians were pretty violent what with the crusades and the witch burnings and the Spanish Inquisition, etc. The bible is a pretty gruesomely violent book filled with rapes and murder. So I don't know what "old fashion value" you're talking about, unless it's racism, classism, sexism, anti-Semitism, and anti-pluralism, and if those have gone the way of the passenger pigeon, well, good riddance.

I think Hollywood is used to launder criminals' money.

A fortune that might alert the IRS (like in Al Capone's case) can be invested in a movie glamorizing sin and crime, like "The Godfather".

The hidden illegal gains from drugs and prostitution can come out as reportable film profits, that the IRS can tax, but not arrest you for.

It seems that films used to say "Crime doesn't pay", but now "crime pays very well", thanks to horney teen boys who buy tickets to soft porn films with violence and vile language.

The love of money is the root to all evil. and the people who love money are the tree that grows from this root. and the branches of this tree are the people who spend their money to watch violence and sex TV. it all comes down to Satan knows what keeps people sinful and deceived from knowing GOD or even wanting to know GOD and he uses sinful people to spread his message to the world through every means available to man. movies, songs money, people, material things and even this computer. but soon GOD will put a end to Satan and evil.
