FACT: She plagiarized about 75% of writings.
FACT: No Biblical prophets were challenged by most Christians, many close-to-modern-day "prophets" are (such as White and the Mormons' "prophet").
FACT: She suffered an injury to her head as a child and this may have affected the way she thought. Her "visions" may have truly been her thinking about what she learned and piecing it together in her mind; because of the injury, these thoughts warped into what she interpreted as a vision.
SDAs (Seventh Day Adventists) say: She was a real prophet because she wrote so many great books.
SDAs: In the middle of a sermon, she was holding a heavy book w/ one hand and suddenly had a vision; while in vision, she continued holding the book.

Was she or wasn't she?

I'm a fourth generation SDA but I'm beginning to question the religion because of the Ellen White issue and the fact that SDAs believe only they will make it to heaven. I'm trying to make up my mind whether I should stay or leave the church.

I guess I'd fit under the half full catagory. Having half of something is better than having all of nothing.

Here every 3-4 hours some theists question atheists' morality, implying that atheists do not have morals. Very annoying.

I know there are many good religious golden rules. But most religions (esp Christianity and Islam) also include the intolerant moral teaching that "those who believe in other things are wrong". And this justifies murders of pagans/native Americans/etc in the name of God as well as modern atrocities also in the name of God.

On the other hand, atheistic morality came from simple common sense that we should treat others the way we want to be treated. I never heard of atrocities in the name of Nothing.

So, try to be fair. On this aspect, don't you think atheistic morality is more tolerant and peaceful?

Ok I live in Canada and at school the Asian girls always try to talk to me or stalk me!! I got blonde hair, blue eyes, and pale skin. I don't want them near me! They just want to impure my genes with their stinky dominant genes. I got rare recessive traits and it should be preserved! But all the White girls go for the Asian guys here!

My fellow White Canadian guys are falling for Asian girls, I cannot save them! How do I keep these yellow stinks away? Why don't they go down to America or something?

It seems impossible to me that something could come from nothing. Nevertheless, this is what some people believe - they think a god exists who made the universe from absolutely nothing... but physics suggests that absolute nothingness is a state that cannot possibly exist, and therefore, since the universe does unarguably exist, it cannot have come from nothing. This makes sense to me because it disposes of a seemingly insuperable problem.

So, how do religious folks justify believing this 'something from nothing' notion? How is that possible? It's clearly not satisfactory to hand-wave this away with "God works in mysterious ways" or something. If someone believes that a god created the universe from nothing, they ought to have some idea how he managed to pull it off. Any ideas?

My parents aren't very religious. They only celebrate Christmas mostly for presents and family time. I can understand that. The thing is they want me to stay the night. Most people that may not seem like a problem, but at my parents it constutes as sleeping on the floor, sometimes they will give us a mattress but most of the time they give us dirty sheets. This may not sound like a problem but they have an extra bed they refuse to let us use. My nephew will be over for the holiday also and my mom has bought him $200 worth of gifts, his parents have bought him $250 worth, and we also got him about $50 dollars worth. So he will be getting a lot of gifts, my daughter however will only be getting the $50 worth that my husband and I bought her. I know that Christmas is about Christ and I don't care about presents, but at the same time I don't think it fair to take my daughter over to their house to watch him open presents, and her not have very many. Also if I don't go over there I

If an increases the risk of HIV transmission that is involved with anal sex makes it wrong to be a gay man. Wouldn't logically it would be wrong for a woman to have sex with a man, since it's much more safer for her to be a lesbian?
