I don't understand why he did that either. Or why Jesus had to die for us to be forgiven. I think God could have just forgiven us anyway.

Actually, while a young itinerant preacher was indeed crucified by the Romans sometime around 4 BC, and he did have some followers who had witnessed some supposed healings, the rest is all myth. Tales of great wonders spread throughout the fearful, oppressed, superstitious population for 50 years before anybody even started writing it down. Eventually a parasitic priest class was established that is still to this day dedicated to promoting these myths, mainly for its own enrichment. Who doesn't want to fly first class, drink the best wine, live in a mansion and revel in power like Jerry Falwell, Joel Osteen and their ilk? Selling snake oil sure beats plowing fields behind a mule.

Hi Sweetie,
God gave up His only Begotton Son, so WE could be here today. As Jesus hung there nailed to the Cross he said and I quote: Father, Please forgive them for they know not what they do. To understand better it'd be nice for U to join a Bible Study & clarify all U'd like to know. Knowledge is the key & will be an eye opener for U once U have all the facts. U'll also grow spiritually in r faith. I don't want u juping to conclusions r hating God, there is a purpose for all He does, but unless u know all the facts, plse don't condemn Him. lol
LOL, Diana D
I promise R eyes will then open & u'll have a differant outlook.

Jesus had to die first so that he could be raised up into life again as he had promised that he would and that all believers would be. Christ's death and resurrection are demonstrations on a level that man could comprehend. God's power was used to restore life to the body of his only Son so that man could see not only the power but realize how it was used. God knew that only a demonstration of an earthly phenomenon would be sufficiently convincing.
God doesn't need our love to subsist. His purpose for us is to learn to love one another and treat each other as brothers.
It's not complicated. The complication comes when we try to make something out of his purpose that wasn't intended or when we disregard his direction and create suffering, pain and death among ourselves.
It's so simple. Love one another as you would have them love you. that's it. give it a try for just one day. may not be easy but it'll be easier if you try it a second day.

Adam sold all of mankind, including us, into sin and death. The price, or penalty, he paid was his perfect human life, with the potential of living forever. To cover this, another perfect human life—a corresponding ransom—had to be paid. However, nobody born from imperfect men could provide the needed perfect human life. In his wisdom, however, God opened up a way out of these straits. He transferred the perfect life of his only-begotten Son from the heavens to the womb of a virgin, letting him be born as a perfect man. (Luke 1:30-38; John 3:16-18) This teaching of Jesus’ virgin birth is not a story contrived to exalt the founder of a religion. Rather, it explains a logical step in God’s provision of the ransom.
In order to accomplish the redeeming, Jesus had to maintain a clean record all the time he was on the earth. This he did. Then he died a sacrificial death. In this way, Jesus paid the price of his perfect human life as the ransom to deliver mankind. (1 Peter 1:19) So we can accurately say that “one man died for all.” (2 Corinthians 5:14) Yes, “just as in Adam all are dying, so also in the Christ all will be made alive.”—1 Corinthians 15:22.

God is perfect. God cannot accept anything other than perfect. Since everyone sins, we are separated from God. So, God sent down his son, who lived a sinless life, as a sacrifice so we can be with our creator.

God has no son and Jesus did not die on the cross because said "And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah JESUS son of Mary, Allah's messenger They slew him not nor crucified, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture ; they slew him not for certain," Surah/Chapter 004 - An-Nisâ. Actually the solution was extremely intelligent.
Most people would agree that being human we learn through example.
What better way to teach us how to live our lives than by example.
BTW He paid the price for all of our sins by his example.
People should be so forgiving and understanding. But then again, God is a dynamic entity. How can anyone realize Him in His entirety.
Peter.

Listen, what you consider demented was actually the process by which you, me, and all other humankind were redeemed. Jesus' sacrifice was necessary to pay for our sins. Saving Him would only have saved him; sacrificing and then resurrecting Him saved everyone. That's an incredible amount of hope to have, and we only have that hope because that awful act of selflessness happened. If you still don't get it, write me back and I'll explain it again in more detail. Happy Holidays.

because Jesus opened the gates of heaven. here is a story i heard form a preacher. one day, a boy was walking down the street and saw a man with a cage of doves. this man was beating the doves. the boy asked the man what he was going to do with them. the man said that he was going to make them peck each other to death and make them hate each other.the boy asks, "how much would they be?". the replies after a moments hesitation "$10". the boy agreed and gave the money to the man. the boy took the doves and let them go. same goes with Jesus. Jesus is the boy walking down the street and the man is the devil. the devil has a cage full of souls. Jesus ask, what are you going to do with those souls? the devil said that he would make them kill each other and make them hate each other. Jesus asked the devil,"how much?" after a moments hesitation, the devil replies, "you life" and Jesus agrees. hope this helps!

Why not go all the way with this one?
Hasn't God "watched" all of sons and daughters die? Why didn't he stop all of them?
(And what about the poor little ducks? He watches them die, too!)
You know what? Sometimes it's okay to stretch your mind and see the big picture. You don't have to look for reasons to be angry at the world.
Death is part of life, and Jesus was just another one of us.
