Before Christ and Alternating Current?
The term A.D. (Anno Domini--Latin for "In the Year of our Lord") was first devised in 525 but wasn't adopted in Western Europe until the 8th century. Prior to this, dating was done by "reginal years," meaning the year of a local king's reign (or pope's office), and gradually became less common from the 11th to the 14th centuries. The term B.C. (Before Christ) was set up to refer to dates before the start of the AD calendar.

Today, CE (Common Era) and BCE (Before Common Era) are more widely used in scientific and historical circles.

As far as what people believed in, it varied. The Roman Empire recognized many Gods, both local and state. Different peoples in the Roman Empire dealt with their Gods in various ways, but as long as they participated in state observances, the government were happy to leave each person to their own religious observance.

Special dispensation was made for the Hebrews who believed that their God was the only one they should pay homage to. The Romans respected their long history and felt that their numbers were too small to matter when it came to the civil observances.

Outside of the Roman Empire, one had Buddhism and Hinduism to the East.

Alternating Current was the form of power delivery that the industrial world eventually settled upon. The system we use to day was essentially devised by Nicolas Tesla. Thomas A. Edison was a big proponent for Direct Current, but the limitations of that method would have it it prohibitively expensive to deliver over long distances. The two men were often at odds.

The first modern commercial power plant using three-phase alternating current was at the Mill Creek hydroelectric plant near Redlands, California in 1893. The designer was an engineer named Almirian Decker.

Obama is for a national health care system, which has never worked in any country that has it. Obama believes the Government can operate and manage businesses better than industry Obama is for expanding our educational systems, which is disfunctional and opposed to vouchers. McCain is in favor of vouchers Obama is anti military, McCain is for the military Obama wants to cut our defense spending, reduce the size of the military Obama is opposed to Nuclear energy, McCain wants new plants built Obama wants to raise taxes on every citizen, not just the rich. McCain wants taxes cut on everyone Obama wants to raise taxes on corporation, McCain wants them reduced (the US has the 2nd highest tax rate for corporations) Obama is in favor of late term abortions, including ending the life of a baby that survives an abortion Obama wants to educate illegals and provide them with health care, McCain has opposed this Obama wants to bring socialism to this country, and believes that only a socialistic government can work Obama believes in bigger government, He believes that only he and other Liberals know what's best for the American People Voting for third party members is a wasted vote, even if you don't feel strongly about one party, you should at least vote against one. Voting for a socialist is wrong both morally and ethically, voting the third party route is another vote for socialism.
