usually in defense of teaching creationism or intelligent design as it has come to be known, people say things like, "i think we should teach both sides, and let the children make well informed decisions as to which one is right." i'm curious to know what the other side is. if evolution is one side of the story, what's the other side? is there only one other side? if we open the doors of science to allow discussions of the supernatural as being a reasonable explanation for the natural, haven't we left the door open to a wide variety of what could explain the universe? indeed there would be more than just one "other side". there would be an infinity of other sides. should we teach all of these or just the one's that the majority of people have faith in?

*I'm not trying to convert anyone, I am simply posing a question that I have been wondering about.*
Most of us have heard of all the terrible things that Jesus went through to save mankind (beaten, cruxified, etc...). With that in mind, I was wondering if any people that don not believe in Christ or God would feel bad if there was undeniable evendence that Jesus died on their behalf in order for them to have the chance not to go to hell.
Personally I think that there would be some that still would not feel any remorse, but I could be wrong.
Once again, I am not trying to convert anyone, or force any beliefs on anyone. I am just wondering about this.

She always sent one until two years ago, thats the last full conversation I had with her,, she was talking about her kids, im single and we dont have much in common anymore, i felt maybe i was rude so i sent a christmas gift for her baby from Lord and Taylor, she called to say Thanks but I have not recieved a christmas card ever since, she called in the summer to say she moved..
I even gave her my email, she never emailed me..
This year i sent a card,, she left a message thanking me and said to call her but she did not send me a card..
Is this rude? should i call or forget it?

I like answering questions in this part of Yahoo! Answers, but I have never actually read the Bible. If you could provide a link to the modernised version that would be an extra bonus as I've tried to read the original and didn't find the style very easy to continue reading. I'm an atheist, but I'm interested in the Bible from a historical perspective. Thanks in advance for your help.

Is it time for Bush, Jr. to step up to the plate and punish all non-Texas Methodists too?

This would likely mean punishing every Democrat in America but Christianity is too important a non-profit religion to allow any criticism ever? It would also guarantee a Republican victory in the USA Presidential election in 2008 too.

Today we had a play although it was about bullies, school etc. In the end they put a "play" together about the story of Christmas. In the end they did they "this lesson applies to all faiths" but what do you think about it? I go to a public school and although, most students are christian there are few that are either muslim or atheist. (5?) What do you think? Its public.

I've had some financial difficulties this year and last night members from my ward dropped by totally unexpectedly with three boxes of food they had received from our local food bank. They were out delivering boxes to those in need. While I could have made it on (primarily) peanut butter and popcorn (plus some left overs after Christmas) until the first of the month when I get my next paycheck, it was very much appreciated. While the church knows of my financial difficulties, they had no way of knowing that my cupboards were as close to bare as they were. I told the guys that dropped off the welcomed packages thank you, but that just didn't seem to be enough.
Have you ever been on the receiving end like I am this year, or have you ever been one to go knocking on someone's door and give them food bank stuff? I'm so incrediably grateful, and I know God's hand is in this. He does know us, and our needs - expressed and unexpressed.

when you have doubt about a diagnosis you get a second opinion from a different doctor, why does christian read the same book when they have doubt about their religion? whats good from reading from the same source? isn't it much better to exam the belief and read from other sources just to get a different view and then make up their own mind?

Same goes for tortue and child molestation. Theres nothing really wrong with it if the only reason it is bad is because God says it is. Some of you might say of course not! God says its wrong because he has infinite knowledge and knows everything. But if thats the case then whats right and wrong is independent of anyones say so even God. If you really believe that whats right and wrong is brought into existence because of Gods say so - then if God said that tortuing babies for fun is right would it be ok? Again some of you might say he would never say that. But then what way does the arrow point? If he would never say that because its wrong - thens whats wrong and right is independt of his say so.

What say u?
