My sister just had a baby girl and she wants my brother and I to be the two Godfathers (we're the baby girls Uncles) but the Churches she's been calling have been giving her a hard time. And the funny thing is, my sister has two Godmothers! Any ideas on who to call or what to do? Should we call the Pope?

I know a family where the mother is not Jewish, the father is and their kids were raised Jewish but they are not considered Jewish. The family is letting them decide what they want to do.

For my part, I have a mild cold, which is obviously Him showing His displeasure. My doctor said it was viral, but as an atheist, I naturally don't believe in anything I can't see.

Where does this concept come from? I don't see it in the Hebrew Scripture(Old Testament). In fact, there are examples from the Bible that teach the exact opposite. For instance, King David was forgiven by God for his many sins, including murder and adultery. What gives?

if so, shouldn't we teach both sides everywhere, not just in public schools when the subject of evolution comes up? shouldn't we allow atheists equal time in churches to talk about the benefits of atheism? shouldn't atheists be allowed to discuss atheism with your children and then we can let the children make a well informed decision on whether there is a god or not? what do you think? who's for it? i know i am...

Why did God want us to believe in him solely on faith? Why would he chose an option that makes us always question him and doubt his existence.
Instead why didn't he present more solid evidence and show himself to all of us which would than enable our critical thinking skills to never doubt his existence or message.
Why does he look down on us knowing people are confused and being mislead, but does nothing noticeable to stop it.

Just wondering, what is so bad about the "story" of Christ? Lets just say its not real, fine, i understand its your belief, but you guys dismiss it as some aweful thing. Yet i know most of you like happy endings, (ex: family was saved from a fire, some one donate a million dollars to the homeless, some one donates a kidney to a dying child etc) But the "story" of Jesus, His love and redemption, offers us hope, or delivers us from drugs, or alcohol, or heals our body, you guys don't want to hear it.
What is so wrong about Jesus?

Christians have written accounts of Josephus, Tacitus, Suetonius, and Pliny the Younger from the time if Jesus. These documents exist outside of the Christian Bible. All of these guys were historians from his day.

Do the Mormons believe that there is eveidence of Jesus comming to America in Indian folklore or any other type of evidence? Or does that belief come only in the book of Mormon?

Also, on a side note, there are Indian folklore stories that resemble Noah's Ark. As well as stories simular to Noah's Ark from tribes and peoples all over the world.

If you are interested in getting people to believe like you do, or at least see the validity of your beliefs, which would work better? Insulting, belittling them, threatening them with hell? Or being patient and kind and all those things in 1st Corinthians? "Love is patient, love is kind .... " etc.

If you are not interested in getting people to understand your beliefs, don't feel pressured to answer this question.
