Today we had a play although it was about bullies, school etc. In the end they put a "play" together about the story of Christmas. In the end they did they "this lesson applies to all faiths" but what do you think about it? I go to a public school and although, most students are christian there are few that are either muslim or atheist. (5?) What do you think? Its public.

Are you talking about The Best Christmas Pageant Ever? I've never seen the play, but it's a great book.

The play in itself has great messages, christmas or otherwise. nothing in it teaches that a religion is any better or worse.

I have no problem with a play dealing with bullying and spirituality. Most Americans are people of faith. As long as the play was not forcing people to believe one particular religion. Were people offended? Was it received well?

Play's about Christmas are one thing. "The house without a Christmas Tree" is a teleplay that was about Christmas, but I would not say it was about Christianity. A play about the birth of Christ as Savior, though, would probably bypass the seperation of church and state.

Jesus is the reason for the season and Muslims and atheists should look at the play in its historical context.

'Jesus is the reason for the season and Muslims and atheists should look at the play in its historical context.'
Unfortunatley, Muslims deny it from a historical point as well.

I think if anyone gets offended by it, they're really just overreacting, Christmas has been so commercialized, it's really just a secular holiday now.

It was unconstitutional for them to have a religious themed play. Contact your local ACLU for help.
