In the movie "Mulan" They say "scarier then the undertaker" and my younger sister asked what that was, since they were obviously not implying the wrestler.
So, what is the undertaker?

Walking into the pub, Sandy said to the bartender, "Pour me a stiff one, Donald. I just had another tiff with the little woman."
"Oh yeah," said Donald. "And how did this one end?"
"Well I'll tell you now when it was over," Sandy replied, "herself came to me on her hands and knees, she did."
"You don't say? Now that`s a switch! What did she say?"
She said, "Come out from under that bed, you gutless weasel!

"Women should be silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak, but should be submissive, as the law also says." (1 Corinthians 14:34)

Why in the world would that be?

If the Bible really is the word of God, why would he say such arrogant and discriminatory things against women?

"If any man takes a wife, and goes in on her, and detests her, and charges her with shameful conduct, and brings a bad name on her, and says, 'I took this woman, and when I came to her I found she was not a virgin..." (Deuteronomy 22:13,14)

"But if ... evidences of virginity are not found for the young woman, then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones..." (Deuteronomy 22:20,21)

So, God tells us to murder women who don't obey us?
How is that ethical?

Is this really the true words of God?

If they are, how come people are selective and only chose some parts of the Bible to listen to...?

I was looking for liberal Christian denominations who believe in freedom of thought and teachings of the Christ. I am a very liberal person and open to all cultures and communities. Was wondering if it's possible for a non-resident (non US citizen) to join the UCC.
If YES, THEN HOW?

It says
This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places and incidents either are the product of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously, and any resemblance to any actual persons, living or dead, events or locales is entirely coincidental.

Now some writers start out their novels telling you that this work is factual. Flowers in the Attic is one such work. Just supposing that was the case with The Bibie?

Mithra was born of a virgin on December 25th in a cave, and his birth was attended by shepherds.

He was considered a great traveling teacher and master.

He had 12 companions or disciples.

Mithra's followers were promised immortality.
He performed miracles.

As the "great bull of the Sun," Mithra sacrificed himself for world peace.

He was buried in a tomb and after three days rose again.
His resurrection was celebrated every year.

He was called "the Good Shepherd" and identified with both the Lamb and the Lion.

He was considered the "Way, the Truth and the Light," and the "Logos," "Redeemer," "Savior" and "Messiah."

His sacred day was Sunday, the "Lord's Day," hundreds of years before the appearance of Christ.

Mithra had his principal festival of what was later to become Easter.
His religion had a eucharist or "Lord's Supper," "He who shall not eat of my body nor drink of my blood so that he may be one with me and I with him, shall not be saved."

1. In the late 1990's I was disfellowshipped for reviling. I was reinstated two years later. There were no shepherding calls made on me and the reinstatement meeting took place 6 months after I wrote my letter. The congregation gave me a huge overwhelming welcome back after they announced my reinstatement. The elders who made the reinstatement decision did not tell me they had decided to reinstate me. It was told to me by two other elders the night they announced my reinstatement.

2. I was disfellowshipped again in 2006 for loose conduct. I was reinstated 1 1/2 years later. No shepherding calls were made on me. This time, it took them only two months to respond to my letter, but only after I left a "serious" voice mail on the elder's answering maching. He told me later there had been some kind of "miscommunication." Less than ten people welcomed me back after they announced my reinstatement. I got a bigger welcome back from the sister congregation of the same Hall.

the intersection where my son was killed now has a 4 way stop sign. i found out he was the 8th death at that intersection, i decided to stop the deaths at that intersection, and got it done. i started a petition and many people signed, thing is i lent the petition to a lady concerned about a school bus getting hit 1 intersection down from where my son was killed, together we got penn dot to put up a traffic light at that intersection. i feel i made lemonade out of lemons, and helped my "neighbors", my tragic outcome benefited the community, the death of my son, i turned into saving lives, and somehow i find comfort in this. hmmm, maybe we shouldn't judge people, you never know what all they might have done during their lives.
