They work in the fields all day and go t the bathroom there too- true !!!!!

I don't think you have to go so far as washing fruit, vegetable and melons in soap and water but there is no harm in using plain water to give you some comfort.You never know which immigrant was the last to handle the merchandise.I am sure there are few facilities in the fields for washing their hands.

I WASH everything from fruits to veggies. Even milk or orange juice carton/bottle before putting in the fridge.

After buying it from the grocery store or market, I wash them before putting them away in the fridge or counter, then again I wash it again a quick rinse with water before I use it. But if it has a peel like bananas or oranges no need to wash once was enough unless I cut the peel too.

I wash EVERYTHING even the lettuce in a bag. My mother always told me that as well.

I wash ALL fruit and veggies not just watermelons...
