We are called "Fallen Catholics," and there are a great many of us. I never believed any of the most absurd tripe, not even the divinity of Jesus, but I enjoyed the community for many years. Even though I knew it was only the ancient savage practice of "eating god," the Mass was somehow comforting, and I was active in the K of C. I just kept my mouth shut when they talked about abortion and I never went to Confession. Once you dump "Original Sin," you're free to think rationally.
I am a professional historian, and I am thoroughly acquainted with the horrors Christians have committed (mostly upon one another) in the name of the Prince of Peace, but I am also aware of the beauty of Gothic cathedrals, Bach cantatas, and the frescoes of Gioto, all inspired by their religious interpretation of life.
It's an insoluable quandry some of us live with, and you may be a member without knowing it.

Then you're not Catholic. That's like saying I'm a Christian but I don't believe in God. Not possible.

You can sit in the garage and go "Beep Beep!" but that doesn't make you a Volkswagen.
You're just polishing the pew if you don't believe in God and still go to Mass anyway.

If you do not believe in God, this begs the question, what aspects of Catholicism do you believe in, and why?

that's sad.. Catholicism is a great faith.. you most likely just skimmed the surface.. you do not fall in love until you dive in.. dive in to prayer.. dive into the lives of the saints.. dive into Eucharistic adoration.. it's amazing.. man there is a whole other world out there.. this world has become secularized.. just walking down the street is a battle.. if you want to know more email me.
God bless!
