Seems like since we are supposed to be such a melting pot of diversity, that we would give federal holidays to more than just Christian holidays, why should a Jewish person have to use their vacation time to celebrate Hannukah, or a Muslim have to use extra time to celebrate their time.

and is it the worst thing that ever happened to religion?

The old testament was filled with other gods, the early Hebrews never denied there to be other gods, just that their god was better. When did it become, believe in my god and only my god or die?

henotheism • \HEN-uh-thee-iz-um\ • noun
the worship of one god without denying the existence of other gods

I live 300 miles from them and don't see them very often!!! I just had a baby 3 weeks ago, and I am on a tight budget for Christmas this year. So what would be a good gift under $20.00?

FYI: I have only met her once, so I am at a complete loss...

Thanks in advance...

everything today is glamourised with sex etc. Comercials, sports events, cars etc.
The Romans were the same - they glamourised homosexuality towards the end of their domination. Homosexuality is also becoming popular here.
Your opinion - do you think homosexuality is a curse? as none of the abrahamic faiths accept it apart from christianity.

Judaism and Islam - which i have limited knowledge about forbid it completely as i have learnt.

Im not being homophobic but just want to know what people think

I do purchase each song from Walmart.com I wait until I have 15 songs accumulated then I burn to CD to store the songs. I then rip the music from the CD and get rid of the original. This removes the DRM protection and I can burns songs over and over again. I know the RIAA gets upset over these things so is what I do legal? I put this question in the religion section because I feel guilty.

Should you fold them up, take them off the bed and leave them, take them off the bed and put them in the laundry basket or remake the bed with your dirty sheets.

Or should you just ask your host what they prefer?

To keep her religious beliefs to herself (or leave)?

We have a few friends and relatives who come around of various beliefs; atheist, Wiccan, Voudouan, humanist, Mormon, pantheist, agnostic and Baptist. My mother (Pentacostal) was the only one who would not accept others beliefs and started preaching at our last gathering. I told her then that if she couldn't show proper respect to my friends and family, she could come back when they weren't there. That's right, I threw her out of the party. Should I give her another chance to show some respect, or just tell her not to bother showing up? My home, my rules, I'm just curious what you folks would do?

Whatever Johnny Fairplay ever did, is was so embarassing what happened to him. All of us who are laughing at him should think about what it must be like in his shoes at the Really Awards in Oct.

Danny B says that a producer told him to go up on stage and say that stuff, Fairplay tried to change the focus off him because it was hurting his feelings and Bonaduce threw him off hurting him while people were laughing. Regardless if Danny was defending himself or not, he didn't seem to turn around in self defense much to make sure Fairplay wasn't back up on his feet after him, while posing like he was invincible.

Think about Fairplay, and how he was smiling one minute with his feelings under attack and falling mouth first on stage, I'm surprised how it wasn't as graphic on camera what happened to him but no matter what that's one less smile in our world. Inside he was probably crying in pain. Imagine that happening to you before you act to unsympathetic about him.

Wee Hughie And His Girlfriend
Wee Hughie adored and loved his girlfriend, Lorraine, to whom he was engaged to be married. Wedding plans were well underway and he was looking forward to spending the rest of his lfe with Lorraine.

However, a beutiful young lady, called Clearly, came to work in his glen and they found that they got on together very well and as time went by, Wee Hughie realised that he was in love with Clearly and that the Love was reciprocated.

Being a gentleman he decided that as he had promised to marry Lorraine he would do so and steadily removed himself from his other relationship.

One day, he and Lorraine were walking along the banks of the River Tay. As they walked, Lorraine slipped and fell into the river and was swept away and drowned.

He stood on the bank for a few minutes feeling very sad before walking away singing happily.

And this is what he sang.

"I can see clearly now Lorraine has gone"

Last year we were asked to go to a relative's home for Christmas eve dinner.. she wanted to host it, but she asked everyone to pay $20 each. Was this rude and tacky or what? What would you do if you were hosting Christmas eve?

Of course I would never know for sure, but he was wearing an orange dress-shirt - not exactly a dark orange but lighter in color and another guy says to him "nice orange shirt" he's like "oh I wasn't sure what color it was" and the other guy says "well what color did you think it was?" he answers back "I don't know - Magenta?" (which is a dark pink)

Is it possible for him to actually see dark pink and not orange? I never heard of something like that before and dark pink isn't the same tone as the light orange shirt he was wearing. I figure it might be possible but all the color-blind people I know that wouldn't see magenta (which is made from red), would also not see orange (which is made from red). Unless it's yellow that he cannot see which I'm not sure of. I don't know - it seemed kind of odd to me

Why do people ask so odd from the ages of junior high through college? Why do they do dumb stuff? Like getting pregnant, dropping out, getting drunk/high, too much porn, fights, and so on.

Is it because our brains aren't fully developed yet? Because we still act on impulse? Because we are curious about new things (sometimes morbidly so)? Because we are inexperienced with being independent and in life experiences? Peep pressure? Are the parents to blame?

Why do you think young people make so many mistakes? I personally think all the above are valid. The most influential of the above are human curiosity, peer pressure and inexperienced.
