It's because they're still figuring things out. Life is like anything else -- you get better at it with practice.

Being a 19 year old male in North America, I feel I'd be in a position to give you some sort of an opinion in defense of my people lol.
Well first of all, we're action-packed with hormones which produce a looaad of chemicals into our brains (serotonin, dopamine, noradrenaline, etc). This is why we have the whole "we think we're invincible" type of thing going on. But its not like we don't realize the long-term affects of all the alcohol and drug abuse. We do, we just don't care.
Chemical imbalance aside, sure, our upraising has a lot of cause and affect to it. Incase you haven't noticed, the generations of kids are getting worse. This is just because we're becoming desensitised. When I was a kid, there wasn't crystal meth on the Simpsons, Family Guy, the media whoring of celebrities, the internet allowing us to download necrophilia or girls shitting in cups, or other things that test our limits. Another facter is that 9/11 happened when I was still in grade school, which has since then opened my generation to the fact that the world is a little more messed up than we thought. And I'm not going on the bullshit "men in a cave did this" theory, but it just opened our thoughts to the fact that there is constant war on this world, which even though it doesn't really affect our lives personally, but when all you see is war on the news, I'm sure that has to be doing something to our mentality.
But anyway, to sum it it, in my opinion, the way we act now is a result of our upbringing, chemical reactions in our brain, and being desensitised from various forms of media.

Its a combination of lack of direction from their parents, and the overwhelming desire for attention. It is also the fact that youths are not held accountable for their actions these days. Parents would rather just buy what ever they want to shut them up. Many parents either work too much and don't spend enough time with their children or they simply could not care less and are too selfish to give the kids what they really need. Kids needs parents, not video games.

I think the majority of people are really stupid. I think it is because they are not stimulated intellectually enough during their childhood and adolescense. It is all about standardized tests and not failing. This is where it makes a difference - in Europe, students never think of "not failing" they think of getting only A's. It is a different kind of mentality - one is "what is the easiest way out" the other one is "how do I make the best of myself". From education this spreads to all other spheres of lives - idle minds lead idle lives.

Its mostly because their brains haven't matured to their full state and because of this they feel they have to do dumb things to feel important and or fit in with a crowd. When this is the case its usually 1 out of 3 reasons
1.)They have been taught that this is okay
2.)They have know moral guideline's or they have to do things to make them feel better
3.)or they are insecure about being themselves
Anyway I hope this has answered your question

I hate to break it to you, but adults are no more perfect. Teens and young adults have the issue of a lack of experience. That means they are likely to make more noticeable mistakes, yet those mistakes are often the path toward correction.
Honestly, if nobody made mistakes, how would they ever learn to become better?

well i like to fight, get drunk and high, and look at porn.
I dont drink too much but none of these things make us dumb.
Some people are just dumb, both young and old make stupid mistakes. young people are more prone too it because of development.

When I do it ...it's because I think it's fun and I don't think the consequences are gonna be that big a deal. If I screw up...it's because I got blindsided by the truth. The truth being, that it was a bigger deal then I gave it credit for. To someone at least.

Your brains don't grasp the long-term consequences of behavior yet. There was a newstory out concerning it a week or so ago:

Maybe because they're starting to feel freedom for the first time and feel like taking full advantage of it by doing things their parents would have forbidden them to have done.
