Of course I would never know for sure, but he was wearing an orange dress-shirt - not exactly a dark orange but lighter in color and another guy says to him "nice orange shirt" he's like "oh I wasn't sure what color it was" and the other guy says "well what color did you think it was?" he answers back "I don't know - Magenta?" (which is a dark pink)

Is it possible for him to actually see dark pink and not orange? I never heard of something like that before and dark pink isn't the same tone as the light orange shirt he was wearing. I figure it might be possible but all the color-blind people I know that wouldn't see magenta (which is made from red), would also not see orange (which is made from red). Unless it's yellow that he cannot see which I'm not sure of. I don't know - it seemed kind of odd to me

Yes, in fact many men are color blind. I am color blind, and it's really the shades of color that are confusing. Sometimes I can tell the difference between colors, but then with different shades it may become extremely hard to classify. It depends on the shades.

I'll ask my hubby when I see him tomorrow after his surgery day- his an Opthamologist (Tuesday's are when he performs cataract surgery's). He's sound asleep right now though.

Here's an experience to make you smile:
During our CO visit and a meeting before Field Service, he was joking about not being there to tell us what color shirts the men should wear. My state of WV was once famous for making brothers change into a plain white shirt and black jacket before giving a talk from the platform. One of the older Pioneer Sisters good naturedly picked on one of our elders who was wearing a peach colored shirt.
Later that day, I joked that even though I agreed with everything the CO said, I wanted to pull Ron (the Elder) aside and tell him he really should wear a different color tie than blue if he was going to wear a peach shirt.
That same older Sister laughed and said joked that's probably why men were supposed to wear white in the old days: because they can't color coordinate to save their life.

I know a guy who gets the red and green traffic lights confused. So, yeah, it's probable that this guy was colorblind (or to some extent).

Yes, some can only see certain pigmnets, and they are quiet similar.
