Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside
your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic
button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue
to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies. This tip came
from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night
and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm
system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it.
It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking
until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the
key fob chain.
It works if you park in your driveway or garage If your car alarm goes off
when someone is trying to break in your house, odds are the burglar or
rapist won't stick around... after a few seconds all the neighbors will be
looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the
criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to
your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there..... This
is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could
save a life or a sexual abuse crime.

Would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you
can't reach a phone.

My friends Mom has suggested to her Dad that he carry his car keys with him in case
he falls outside and she doesn't hear him. He can activate the car alarm
and then she'll know there's a problem.

As most people know, according to the story in the Bible, Job's entire family died, he lost all his wealth and was afflicted with a horrible sickness just so God could win a bet with Satan. At the end of it all, God gives him a new family, wealth, and health as a reward for being so good and faithful.

Doesn't this scenario strike anybody else as being really wrong? Is Job really supposed to not be sad about his old wife and family because he has a new one? Is it fair to his old wife and family to die for a measly bet? How can people think that "God made it OK" by giving him a brand new family, as if it were as easy to replace a family as it is a worn-out car?

Any thoughts?

P.S. I know there are other interpretations of this text. I'm asking specifically those people who take the story at face value, the way I was taught it should be regarded when I was a Christian.

These people that are against gay marriage and put gay people down are such losers. People do not choose to be gay though in some cases some people do but those people are strange. It has nothing to do with any1 that two same sex couples marry. I really find all of these christian people annoying aswell like www.familyfirst.org.au/ and www.acl.org.au/ (Australian Christian Lobby) they are very anti gay why dont all of these people get a life instead of worrying about gay people.Whats everyone think?

My bro came out over the summer. we're all conservative and don't like it too much. My dad's a deacon of the church. I heard these ladies sitting in a room talking about how much of a disgrace it is. one said it was tv that influenced him, another said it was his (my) family. they think my parents went wrong somewhere. I walked in and said I heard everything you're talking about. and I don't like how you're talking behind his back when he's not here to defend himself. I agree, what he does is wrong, but it's none of your business. so shut up. then walked out. now they told everyone and the church is pretty pissed @ me. my dad's pissed, mom's pissed, grandma's pissed, and the preacher's pissed. i told my bro and he's glad i stood up for him. what do you think i should do? I told my family I'm not gonna apologize, but if they want to, they know where we live. what you guys think?

I'm an Episcopalian (Anglican) Christian and in my theology class we've been discussing Catholicism and the Reformation that has created Protestant Christianity. My question is where do Episcopalians fit into this spectrum? I know generally it is a sect of Protestant Christianity, however in our Nicene Creed it is said: "...we believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church..." Does this mean that Episcopalians are what exactly?

Thanks for any straightforward and helpful comments. They are much appreciated.

Isn't it terribly conceited to think that we are modeled after a God?

If there's a god, it seems like just some being, and it DOESN'T see what we do, know what we think, hear what we say, or care at all whether or not we follow man-made rules.

Grow some bacteria and try to read their single-celled minds. Watch their actions, are they good or bad?
But wait, you created the bacteria! Why can't you read their minds? God created us, and he can read OUR minds, right?

you know like the person who wrote Matthew refers to the Jews as "the hypocrites." Don't get me wrong hypocrites is a perfect label for them, but I'm not really into plagiarizing material which has been plagiarized from other ancient myths. Any ideas?

When a user asks a question whose premises are misguided, do you believe that it is better to:
a) answer the question to the best of your ability, or
b) to point out that (YOU BELIEVE THAT) the question is misguided?

Why? Which answer do you believe is more beneficial to the user who posted the question?

An example of a question that may be commonly labeled as misguided is:

-How did the Big Bang happen? (assumptions: God didn't create the universe, etc.)

I mean, we get blamed for getting thrown out of paradise, we have to suffer childbirth (yet men get nothing but pleasure out of the whole deal), we get stoned if we do anything wrong in the marriage, Noah's wife doesn't even get to have her name in the bible, we get periods and can't even be touched during that week every month w/out making a guy be all dirty (unless he sacrafices some stuff - and hey - guys are a lot dirtier than girls most the time)... I mean, what's the deal? The only person who wants every women punished more than God is this guy I know who had massive mommy issues.

I love the oddest and weirdest house shoes that I can find. What are yours? Here is a list of the ones that I have:

Slip on's are:
medium blue fizzy
red metallic with fake fur across the top
bright orange with a witch on the toes
light purple catipillar with dark purple wings

Then the house "shoes" (these have the back to them) are:
light gray rabbits
brown monkeys
St.Bernard puppy
Dr.Seuss, hat is 5 inches tall
dark brown beaver

I am still looking for more. I did have some that were black bears, but wore them so much that I wore them out.

So what kind do you have, if any?
