I mean, we get blamed for getting thrown out of paradise, we have to suffer childbirth (yet men get nothing but pleasure out of the whole deal), we get stoned if we do anything wrong in the marriage, Noah's wife doesn't even get to have her name in the bible, we get periods and can't even be touched during that week every month w/out making a guy be all dirty (unless he sacrafices some stuff - and hey - guys are a lot dirtier than girls most the time)... I mean, what's the deal? The only person who wants every women punished more than God is this guy I know who had massive mommy issues.

having babies is a gift from God not punishment.
- Yeah. Squeezing out something the size of a watermelon from something the size of a tangerine isn't a punishment? Ever bled from an orifice for 5 straight days? Such a gift!
that doesnt make god hating women honey
- um, don't call me "honey", honey.
Osama, you're not funny. You're trying, but it ain't happening.
And, gotta say. Love how people will throw the "but that's the OLD testament, and the new one is the one that god meant" arguement.
I read a good book this weekend. It was also fiction. It was also old. I suppose I should believe the first few chapters were something I should ignore and only focus on the second part, and the parts that I liked the best. And make excuses for the parts that made no sense in the modern world.

The goat-herders who concocted this imaginary deity viewed women as property. Female sexuality was something to be feared and suppressed. To them, the thought of God being anything other than male was impossible. Stern disciplinarian, vengeful violent mood swings, smiting here and smiting there.... oh the smiting! Like an omnipotent Mike Tyson. Any female god just wouldn't have carried the same weight.
If there were any force in the universe that could be remotely described as "god" it would certainly be neither/both sexes. The biblical god is clearly male, and any attempt by christians to backtrack with excuses of allegory, symbolism, or even redemption in the NT are truly grasping for straws.
To borrow a phrase - the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree. Abrahamic religions are misogynistic and cruel... so are the vast majority of their adherents throughout history, and today.
btw - I love the post that cites the bible's hints for avoiding infection. That is priceless.

God doesn't hate women.
Consider that the Torah then the Bible has been translated by men for the past few millenniums. The rules about not being touched during menstruation were written by men. Stoning - that's a man made punishment, enforced by men.
As far as childbirth goes, we also have epidural, fabulous drugs, and a license to make your husband buy you nachos at 4 am for nine months.
Consider who is in charge of your faith at the earthly level.

I guess you can look at it that way but I did not think He did. It seems like a lot of biased statements and God really loves you guys. After all YOU may think it is a pain, but after that pain is a new life. You have that in you. To me thats just so awesome. i did not blame you for the Eden thing either and anyone that does is ignorant. Adam was right there when God told him. If he did not tell Eve or did not stop her or did not stand up that makes them both to blame as it should be in life with a couple too. They are both to blame for anythings that they are in together. maybe noah's wife did not get recorded but what about a few others that did that no one ever thought would. Rahab, Ruth, Tamar to name just a few. The culture thougth all these woman were of ill reputation and they got their names recorded for all history. I think that God has a special place for women and thinks a whole lot better of them than you do of yourself. You should feel that way, too.
God Bless you and keep you in His loving Arms

God doesn't hate anyone. He hates sin.
I learned tonight at church that God actually has both male and female characteristics. In Proverbs, He is called Lady Wisdom. Yeah, Jesus was a male, but that's his Son. Christians believe in the Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (or woman-like attributes).
Also, a big difference between God and other gods is that God suffered wtih us. e feels out pain when we have our periods. He feels our pain when we go through childbirth.
I don't know if this answer is helping any. It just thought I would post it out there.

Because they are the most perfect creation of God. They have been trained under the unjust domination of men for 6000 years, but from now on they will justly lead the world to unity, peace and prosperity to all eternity. I am not joking, see how your younger sisters, your daughters and grand daughters are changing the world. And see how family violence, women trafficking, children abuse...are condemned and abolished. And a civilized family now is the one being governed by a woman. GU-UN

because when the bible was written by people talking to god (whatever) there own opinions of women being the inferior species were written in too (that explains being stoned etc.) but the childbirth thing was just biology. thankfully most men have progressed and now believe women and men are equal.

You forgot the part about women being property, being SOLD to their rapists (if she was a virgin when she was raped), not being allowed to preach in a church, not having authority over a male, expected to not speak inside a church, asked to respect her husband (but not love? As if her marriage does not involve love but just respect and duty?) to be submissive and always allowing the man as head of the household, women depicted as the temptress, and much, much more. Unfortunately, the bible was written in a time when women were not highly valued.
Great question, btw. Though in the bible, Jesus is one of the few that treated women as equals (and even corrected some of his own followers in their treatment of women). Paul, on the other hand, seemed not to like women... and for those who say that women were only treated badly in the OT, they haven't read the rules Paul gave out against women in the New T.

Hey, Jesus came to us to help women out. He was the ultimate momma's boy. He helped out countless women. He let them hang out in church. He told men to honor their wives. He even let a woman hang out at the last supper. Om his very last day on earth as a man, who was left to stay with him? women. I'd say God and women are pretty good buddies now. The new testament came along to change the old ways.

Actually, it isn't God who has issues with women but small minded men. If you look at it, the only thing God did was say that women would bear children in sorrow and that through the woman's womb salvation would come. The rest of the rules were added by men. Jesus was just fine with women too.

Because God was created by one or more chauvinistic idiots with not only massive mommy issues, but also wanting to think of women only as vessels with no other purpose but to pass on their progeny. Hopefully, sons.
