I don't know who wrote it or who sang it.. I don't even know the name of it. Here are some of the words. I'm putting it here because it's old and I've always had luck here before.. OK here goes...... "Well it went zip when it ran, pop when it stopped, whirr when it stood still! I didn't know just what it was and I guess I never will!" I'm 67 and I remember it... If you do, tell me about it. that doesn't necessarily mean i'm going to do everything according to the law. in fact i think if i had such an extreme disregard for authority i'd expect to eventually be caught by the police. that being said, i think it stands to reason that those who believe in a god are not necessarily going to do what he wants them to do. belief does not mean obedience. so my question is this. what is to stop someone, who believes in god but just doesn't care about his punishments from doing something evil? to put it differently. let's say i believe in a god. i feel i'm going to go to hell no matter what i do. what's to stop me then from committing some heinous crime against humanity? i already assume i'm going to be sent to hell, and nothing i do is going to get me a punishment worse than that, what would stop me from doing something horribly wrong? how often do we see killers turn themselves in peacefully to the authorities?

I personally do not understand. From what i have heard about him, until the very last days of his life, he was very prejudiced against the whites and was all about black separatism and black militantcy. Why do a lot of black americans honor him a civil rights leader? Acting on his ideas would have done less for the civil rights of Black folks than anything. I think Martin luther King was better.

Pascal's theory was a pretty good theory but he was discredited because he was a drinker (which was a lame reason). But besides that whats so good about it?

I know some answer s Im going to get back are going to be a question which will be , "whats so good about believing?" And my answer is that I have something to look forward to when my time comes. Strong faith makes fear of death obsolete. My life feels like I have a higher selfless purpose. If Im wrong at the end then so what?

Some would say "because you dont get to live your life"...
What are you doing in life that I cant do? Get high? Harm others? Harm myself ? What?

Please give me mature answers people.

I was raised Baptist...went to Sunday School and Church every week, went by myself, parents didn't attend, so it was voluntary that I went.....

When I became a teenager, I converted to Catholism.

I dislike most Protestants and their services.....
I love the Catholic church's services and rituals.....

I'm a private person, not much of a socialite....
I don't like being "preached" at

I believe in God...
I'm intelligent and like to poke holes in reglious arguments...
I can't get comfortable with "blind following" aka faith...
I'm very sensitive...
I'm not for certain that I believe in Jesus....

What I need, basically, is a religon similiar to Catholism, without the Jesus factor......

Sighs.....any thoughts?

I'm an atheist, but I'd like to know why Christians reject Islam.

They have miracles, holy texts, millions upon millions of followers. Why choose Christianity over Islam, besides the fact that you grew up where Christianity was the major religion of choice?

Why is it that creationist theories are found posted on web sites--but I've never seen anyone in any peer reviewed journal. I've seen plenty of pseudoscience on these web-sites but never anyone from those sites with enough integrity to publish in a scientific journal. PS you can't use the excuse that scientific journals won't publish creationism--if the science is accurate and no holes can be found in that science--then any journal will publish. (Try Nature for a first outing). So why don't any of these creation scientists publish in a recognized journal? If the science they are attempting to publish is true--then don't you think the support and weight of the scientific community would be a blessing?

Christians do know they arn`t perfect but they do strive to always better themselves,thay`s the difference i feel.There are just as many non Christians who come across as hypocrites(Politicians).Christians arn`t perfect i know this! But most of us do try to help or do a pretty good job showing others that we care and love by helping.

That he is out for blood and destruction? God didnt create Hell and he doesnt place people there I wish people would realize that. If you follow God and believe in him you go to heaven thats pretty simple dont you think? Hell is for those who sin and if you follow the devil you are going to live with him and since he hates you so much then he is going to torture you.

I find it funny that people still blame God for everything like or Hurrican Katrina or the Tsunami. I was having a discussion about that today. There is someone called Lucifer that is what I believe

in general, i love the show. but i have a serious problem with how mark is portrayed. they make him exactly the stereotype; he works for a fasion magazine, he wears femenine clothes, has a high voice, loves everything to do with underwear models, spends all his time with girls doing things related to fasion...he's just the definition of stereotypical gay man. its feeding the false stereotype and encouraging people who watch the show to believe that all gay men are like that!!! i think im going to write to the show. anyone know how to contact ABC?
