My Way a strong contender. I chose this for my very awkward, unique dad's funeral. It seemed to say it all.

Absolutely nothing sad. I want this to be a celebration of my life and a happy going home celebration. I did make my family promise to play Frank Sinatra's "My Way" which is how I've always lived my life - every day to the fullest with no regrets.

My wife thinks I'm nuts, but I really like JUMPIN JACK FLASH and want a boom box to play it at the grave site. I want those bottles of bubble stuff, and some helium filled balloons to be released after the final AMEN. It's a GOING HOME service, not a DEATH service. A time of joy, not sadness. PARTY ON DUDE! Since I can't have done (most likely) what I REALLY want...cremated and ashes spread near McMurdo, Antarctica at Scott's Hut Point...that will have to do.
An OLD friend (99, almost 100) of mine died and when I got to the funeral home you'd have thought there was a beer bust going on, with all the laughing and joke telling (re-telling of most of his...which our preacher can only remember the ones he can't tell from the pulpit). There was BIG BAND music being played by his casket (a lot of Tommy Dorsey).

All around me by Flyleaf, why? because i'm going to heaven not hell. I love Flyleaf, but this song is very anoying, but the measege is beatiful. also November Rain by Guns N' Roses, and life is beautiful by sixx am. Another song that i really like is a mexican song, but i don't remember the name, i only know it says something like "enemies and Friends, you're all invited to my funeral to come for me" and it says everything that the person singing it wants in his funeral. The name of the artist is Victor Garcia and it's a Ranchera song.

The Processional hymn will be one entitled: "I Am The Way, The Truth And The Life". It's one I wrote. The Offertory hymn will be "God Of Our Fathers" (the U.S. National Hymn). The Communion hymn will be: "Feed My Lambs" (another hymn that I wrote). The Recessional hymn will be "Eternal Father, Strong To Save" (the U.S. Navy hymn).
The hymns I've written have already received imprimaturs and nihil obstats from church officials, so they can be used in a Mass of Burial.

I am not having a funeral. Just cremation and spread the ashes over the gulf of mexico when someone happens to go that way.

I have written instructions.

No Funeral.

Celtic music will play during viewing, the mortuary has the CD on file.

At my graveside service, the song. Somewhere Over the Rainbow, by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, will be played.

He sings What a Wonderful World and mixes it with Somewhere Over the Rainbow. He sings it in the movie, Finding Forester.

Then I instructed them to go "Party Hardy" and celebrate my life.

"Imagine" by John Lennon, and "From the Dark side of the Street to the Bright side of the Road" by Van Morrison. I've written out my funeral requests and they are the songs I'd like.

I'll leave that up to my children. The funeral is for the living anyway. I think if I were to choose I would lean toward "Way Over Yonder" by Carly Simon and "Fairest Lord Jesus."

When my grandmother died many years ago, the chapel that was holding the service asked my dad what songs he wanted played, he thought about it for a minute and said that really sad, sad song...I can't remember the name of it, but I think it was the wedding march. With that, my sister and i started roaring laughing at the situation...see dad had been married multiple times so it just tickled us that he thought it was a sad song.

I don't want a service at all

The Briar and The Rose. (Sung by Niamh Parsons and The Loose Connections. Beautiful, sad Celtic song)
His Eye is on The Sparrow. My son sang this at his brothers memorial service.
