I saw a person do this to several pieces and decided right then and there that I need to wash my produce more thoroughly before I use it. I found it quite unsettling that people do that. I know a lot of dirty hands handle produce but this just seemed inappropriate. How would you feel about it ?

In most places, if you can back up your claim it's considered truth. If it's "true" then one can see it and it is accepted by the majority. It is an accepted truth.
Christianity is only 1/3 of the world which means that more people don't accept it then do. So how is it the only truth?

would you lie to them about God to make them more comforted and at peace in their final months, weeks, and days (assuming the thought of heaven comforted them)? Would it hurt anyone to lie?

I know I give silly answers [a lot] but in all seriousness, I have a real family issue here, and would genuinely like your honest and serious responses. :)
My mom found out [from me] that my sister is cheating on her husband. My Mom got angry [at me] that I told her... and so now she has completely shunned me by "cancelling" all family get togethers "until next year". I do NOT care about that part at all .... And my sister and I are FINE - we get along wonderfully....

But HERE is the problem: My Mom has now asked if she & my Dad can come and stay at my home for 2 days this month [I have 2 small children & they live 6 hrs. away - do not see them often]....
It will be VERY VERY uncomfortable ..... : (
Ugh ..... I dread that visit...

Any advice ....???
Thanks!

That's what most religious people believe. At least that's what they tell me. So....if it's true that God exists and he knows the future, didn't he realize that in 2007 the Bible would sound kind of.... ridiculous? With all this stuff about beating slaves, stoning your children, secluding menstruating women, talking animals, impossible floods, virgin birth, raising the dead and so on......didn't it occur to him that in our times these things would make it virtually impossible for many people to believe that this came from an omniscient God? If he knew mankind would make it's way into the twenty first century, why doesn't his book sound a little more sensible to modern man? Even the New Testament tells women to keep quiet in church and submit to their husbands. Why didn't he see how difficult all this would be for people of our time to relate to?

I saw a very nice ceramic pot with lid for baked beans and I would love to buy it, but am afraid of lead. On the bottom, it says made in Taiwan. How can I tell if it is safe?

Here's photos of it, they say the two fish was the sign of Christianity before the cross, is this because Jesus is nothing more than the SUN in the age of Pisces?

I was born in Miami Fl., lived there 6 months, raised for 9 years in Niagara Falls NY (moms hometown) and then moved to Charlotte NC (dads hometown). The irony is that I couldn't have been born any further south in the states if it was possible.
I will never forget how cruel some kids in school were because I had a "yankee" accent and I was Catholic, it doesn't matter now, since I am older, but it never stopped when I was living in the south. I learned to laugh about it, you have too. I feel like some people are still "fighting the civil war" with their ignorance and intolerance. 5years ago, my husband got a job offer of a lifetime in NJ, so I was more than happy to move. I don't understand it.....when we visited our parents in NC with our NJ liscense plate on our car recently,we got our car keyed and a nasty note about "Yankee go home." I don't get it,why? My husband is a true southern gentlemen, thank God, since MS has caused me so much pain and disabilities. For that I'm lucky!

church, instead of these extreme ''Happy Clappy'' type churches with loud bands like your charismatic and pentecostal churches.Am i the only one out there that prefers the Traditional church with the lovely old church buildings, and all the lovely old hymns with a choir and church organ and a proper liturgical service.I'm not been old fashioned am i in prefering ''Proper'' church services,i'm only in my early fortys, but i hate all these so called ''Happy Clappy'' churches with a loud band.To me thats not what i call A ''Proper church service''These so called Charismatic/Evangelical and Pentecostal churches are just ''Entertainment Centres'',its not ''Proper'' church at all.Is there anyone else who feels like me out there?or am i an odd one out,in not liking these modern types of churches.Surely there must be someone out there who feels like me.Give me a ''Traditional''church any day, with a ''Traditional''service with all the old hymns, the liturgy, choir, organ and yes even incense ANGIE,UK

A professor at the University is giving a seminar on the supernatural.
To get a feel for his audience, he asks them, "How many folk here believe in ghosts?"

About 80 students raise their hands. "That's a good start," says the professor, "For those who believe in ghosts, do any of you think you've ever seen a ghost?"

About 40 students raise their hands.

"That's really good," continues the professor, "I'm really glad you take this seriously. Has anyone here ever talked to a ghost?"

15 students raise their hands.

"That's a great response," remarks the impressed professor, "has anyone here ever touched a ghost?"

3 students raise their hands.

"Brilliant. But let me ask you one question further...

Have any of you ever been intimate with a ghost?"

One of his students from a Redneck state raises his hand.

The professor is astonished. He takes off glasses, takes a step back, and says, "Son, all the years I've been giving this lecture, no one has ever claimed that.

You've got to come up here and tell us about your experience." The redneck student replies with a nod and begins to make his way up to the podium. The professor asks, "Well, tell us what it's like to have made love to a ghost."

The student replies, "Ghost?!? Dang it!... I thought you said goats."

I think I'm being a bad houseguest. I'm staying with a friend for a few months until I get my own apartment. He likes to keep the place really cold. He wears sweats with the hood over his head and 3 blankets to keep warm at night and walks around during the day in quite a few layers.
I like a warm home. I asked if it was ok to keep the temperature at 70 degrees day and night as a compromise. He said it's okay but he keeps turning it down to 65. The apartment is extremely drafty and I always have goosebumps.
Should I remind him about our compromise or not since he's letting me stay in his home at no charge? It takes a lot for me to get warm--I'd have to wear 2 sweatshirts!
