Christmas is a wonderful time traditionally. But there are many out in this world who hate this time of year because of lost loved ones, other reasons. How do you deal with these emotions if you are one of these people?

A question was asked earlier on Seniors by a person questioning what to do with someone who spends too much time on YA and not enough time with their family. The asker then adds more info and accuses some of the people that answered of condoning child neglect, even though I'm sure they were not. In addition, he calls Eve T. "wierd" and Gladys "a nut case". This reminded me of a similiar situation when I recently answered a question. The asker called me "stupid", even though I gave what I thought was a good answer. I decided to ignore it, but seeing this made me wish I didn't. What would you have done?

I am not a great talker and have been invited to visit our work colleage in a hospital cause he has just had an operation on his heart. He is not going to come back to work. I know him a bit, we sometimes talked and laughed together. I will be going with people who know him much better. My question is how should I act? Of course I won't laugh and be loud but I also don't want to just sit and say nothing or only smile. He will be probably very sad but happy he would see me. I want to be nice and show him I care. But I can't find proper words what our conversation should be about. Please help if you can.

My parents told me about Mr. Common Sense early in my life and told me I would do well to call on him when making decisions. It seems he was always around in my early years but less and less as time passed by until today I read his obituary. Please join me in a moment of silence in remembrance. For Common Sense had served us all so well for so many generations.

Obituary
Common Sense

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they themselves failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer Aspirin, sun lotion or a sticky plaster to a student; but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by three stepbrothers; I Know my Rights, Someone Else is to Blame, and I'm a Victim.

I thought Christmas all around the world marks the birth of Jesus Christ and is symbolic of Christianity. So why do atheists, agnostics, people who claim to be Christian but don't attend church celebrate and observe this holiday for Christians.

Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus and other religions have their own religious holidays. Why are these holidays not celebrated in America?

My friends were wondering about this strange trend in America?

So, I just went to Wal-Mart on my lunch break to grab a few things I needed. I was just about to turn down a row of parking spaces and saw that the first car on the right hand side was backing out to leave. So I stopped, turned on my turn signal and waited for her to leave. As I started to pull into the spot, a lady in a car that was past that parking spot in the row started to yell at me. She claimed it was her spot. Her car was facing the same direction as mine, so she obviosly had pulled down the row and then saw the car leaving in her rear view mirror. Apparently she would have attempted to back into the spot from where she was (which would have been really difficult, by the way). So I told her it's my spot since she had already driven past it and basically lost out on the chance. She then waited for me to get out of my car so that she could yell at me and call me a bit....h.

Who do you think the parking spot should have belonged to?
