Do any of you actually think the world will end on December 21, 2012?

I'm just wondering if any of you have any opinions.

I don't really understand where all the fear is coming from. The Mayans Calendar, which is not predicting the end of the world in 2012, but the start of a new era on December 21st, 2012. The year 2012 marks the end of the "Great Cycle." When it came to mathematics, time and calendars, the Maya were geniuses. Believing that time repeated itself in cycles.

I'll let you know on 12/22/2012.How can you "think" that ? What proof is there? What difference do opinions make?
If it does, it does. If not, it won't.
There is not a thing any of us can do about it either way. The saint and sinner will all go the same way.
I think it is silly to spend time thinking stuff like this. Why not spend your time thinking how you can show love to your family until then. How about traveling and seeing as much of the world as you can before it blows up or reading the bible over and over. Or reading a book that you enjoy, like Tarzan or Peter Pan?
If I only have 5 years left, I hope I can spend some of every day loving someone, eating good healthy food, and watching the sun come up.
I hope I have a happy, fulfilled next 5 years, either way. I hope you do, too.

It's when the Aztec calendar runs out signaling a new world age. The timing corresponds closely with the transition from the Age of Pisces (1 AD to around 2000 AD) to the Age of Aquarius (2000 AD to 4000 AD).

Many cultures recognize that some significant change in the world and society will occur over the new few years.

It's more likely the world, as we know it, may end around then. Meaning some big change is around the corner although it may not mean the literal end of existence. Something of great significance is expected to happen around that date.

I also find it interesting that the date in question is the Winter Solstice and signifies, for many, the beginning of a new yearly cycle as the days start to get longer as the Sun rides higher in the sky.

Should be interesting to see what happens.

No i don't think the world will end on 12/21/12. People said the world was going to end on 1/1/2000 and we're still here. I do think that the world will end either by us destroying it or some alien race coming and annialate the human race

I don't know, but by the same token, I don't really care either. What's important I think is to live each day like it is your last and go from there.
To dwell on that mythological humdrum about 2012 is such a waste of time and frankly, there is no real scientific basis for it.
But that is just me. Other people will have differing opinions and that's their load to carry.

Yeah.....NO. I don't believe that at all, a part of me honestly can see that happening because of how messed up the planet is now, and how it can progress, but they've been saying that for so long that it's like the little boy that cried wolf. You know?

whts so special about tht date? i remember ppl were really scared on 6/6/06, they thot the world was gna end, and were still here. ther was also sum ppl in russia who were hiding in a cave or sumthing becuz they were POSITIVE the world was gna end, but again, were still here. nobody nos for sure when its going to end.
