You know, the thing I love about "jesussaves" is his christlike love towards others. You note the even-handed, objective way he answers questions relating to the LDS church. It's almost as if he takes special care to pray for those whom he believes are "lost" and he tries to lead them back to the "truth" with patience and love here at R&S.
Sorry, that was a bit sarcastic, but good grief, jesussaves...
Anyway, see the official church website for the "official" history about Joseph Smith at www.lds.org
Yes, the storms made traveling a little tricky on Saturday evening for the Christmas devotional, and Sunday morning for church. Does that give away what part of the country I live in? :-)

The snow didn't affect my trip to church, other than the fact that I love driving in a winter blizzard. So maybe I left a little early and took my time. I watched the devotional Sunday night from home, so there was no issue there.
As for info about Joseph Smith, He was a simple boy with a simple question. God answered his question and people have been persecuting him ever since. Is it so hard to believe that God answers our prayers? Joseph wanted to know which church to join, and God answered that at that time there was so much corruption in religion that he should join none of them. You can still see that corruption in so many religions today. People that claim to have truth, but still treat others like crap, or people that fixate on one verse of scripture instead of taking in the entire doctrine of Christ. God helped Joseph Smith to establish Jesus' true religion upon the earth again. THere is so much more info out there, but long answers are pretentious and difficult to read. Go to lds.org for the rest of the story.

Mormons describe him as a Saint, a Prophet!
Bible believing Christians describe him as a false prophet who used his new religion as an excuse for lots of sex with young girls.
He had at least 33 wives and eleven of them were teenagers, some as young as 14.
Joseph Smith taught that you can get to the highest level of heaven unless you have at least two wives and are married in a Mormon Temple. Once you get there, you'll get your own planet and have sex with your wives forever. He also taught that that rule can never ever be changed. Those who change the rule are cursed. Which means according to Joseph Smith the LDS Church based in Salt Lake City, Utah is cursed. D&C 132.

Jesus taught there will not be any sexual relationships in heaven.
Matthew 22: (KJV)
23The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
24Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
25Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:
26Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.
27And last of all the woman died also.
28Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
29Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
30For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
31But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,
32I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
33And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.
According to the Apostle Paul, since he preached a different gospel, which he claimed he got from an angel, he is cursed. (Galatians 1:6-10)
