A question was asked earlier on Seniors by a person questioning what to do with someone who spends too much time on YA and not enough time with their family. The asker then adds more info and accuses some of the people that answered of condoning child neglect, even though I'm sure they were not. In addition, he calls Eve T. "wierd" and Gladys "a nut case". This reminded me of a similiar situation when I recently answered a question. The asker called me "stupid", even though I gave what I thought was a good answer. I decided to ignore it, but seeing this made me wish I didn't. What would you have done?

Stardoes, you were not being attacked by Eve T. and Gladys. There responses are appropriate for your first question, which was written very vaguely and they were probably responding to that. Your additional details were not added until 6 hours after you posted. The people that responded are NOT morons. Please show some respect for those that were trying to help you with their answers and not resort to insulting people.

I agree that if someone poses a question on here, they should be prepared for negative answers as well as positive answers. This also includes me when I ask a question. Everyone has an opinion about something, and opinions are neither right or wrong. They are just that persons beleifs. I try to be respectful of everyones opinion when they answer my questions even if they differ from my own. If I find an answer to be overly offensive and just downright vindictive, I will ignore this persons questions and answers in the future. I do take acception though for those that answer with vulgarity and name calling. There is no excuse for that. I guess that if a contributor here is continuously harrassing people, the best thing to do is not give this person the time of day, so they end up with "zero" answers to their questions.

Saw the question, but decided to skip it after reading the questioners comments.

WILL answer this one, though! It was nice that you stood up for the others like you did....they gave honest thoughts and were then put down for it. If the questioner wasn't ready to hear a different way of looking at the situation, then he shouldn't have asked to begin with. Or he should have just ignored the replies he didn't like. Rudeness wasn't necessary.

That is why I come to YA Seniors
Most of the time people are nice even if they have different opinions maybe it comes with age. I think Seniors insult less and answer more.
Happy Holidays

My goodness, I go do some laundry and come back only to find out that I'm a "nut case". LOL, I haven't been called a nut case since I went to that psychiatrist (just joking folks). I think the best thing to do is just steer clear of future questions from people that do that - you try to give a honest answer to some people, but it's just not worth the frustration and name-calling. This isn't kindergarten!

The name calling was inconsiderate and childish. His concerns appear now to be about someone he personally knows...so who knows whether he has sufficient reason to worry about the kids...dunno.

Question askers need to stop slamming answerers UNLESS the answerer is rude, biased or otherwise nasty. Even then, I would not answer them in 'details' but would just report them

edit: sounds like someone has super thin skin, doncha think?...[the question asker who slammed the answerers he didn't like] - Perhaps had the question been framed clearer as to what he/she actually meant then folk wouldn't have had to reach their own conclusions...

I really feel like this rude person should be ignored in a way... but by the same token I feel like they should also be put in their place sometimes. I don't like the idea that he/she feels they can be so rude to people on here who took the time to answer her/his answer in the first place. I had another answer for her/him after reading your question Stephen. By the way Steven, how kind of you to speak up for me. You made my day.

I truly do like the positive remarks some folks here make. I could do without the negativity....

What you are referring to, to me, is down right rude and uncalled for!

Don't ask the question if you can't respect someones answer.

And, expect some playful answers!

The truth is it's really difficult to figure out the politically perfect answer to submit that satisfies everybody.
There are those who lash out that makes me think they really have nothing else to do but make waves and agitation is their game.
It is unfortunate, but it is the way it is, so we just have to make the best of it.
Choose your words carefully and hopefully you'll not receive a derogatory response, but even if you do, let it go. It just isn't worth fueling the fire.

WEll, this is the seniors section, most of us who have children are in their 30's and 40's, so they DO NOT NEED TO BE ATTENDED TO! At least I hope not, most find this an enjoyable place to be. I think the newbie should perhaps learn our age groups instead of saying we are neglecting our families, Many of us are single, my kids are 37 and 38, they are professionals, one is an eye doctor, I think they can take care of themselves!

It takes all kinds....Since you may not be personal friends with this person I would ignore it. There are ignorant people everywhere in the walks of life, don't let them steal your good energy. It will come back to bite them in the butt, when you're not around to see it.
