would you lie to them about God to make them more comforted and at peace in their final months, weeks, and days (assuming the thought of heaven comforted them)? Would it hurt anyone to lie?

I have discovered that when dealing with children, simplicity is best. I always refer back to the Scriptures themselves, then paraphrase to the level of understanding of the particular child. An opening might sound like this:

"Well, the Bible says that Jesus is preparing places for us. Your place must be ready. I wonder what it will be like?"

Even if you yourself do not believe, you have not lied. The Bible does indeed say just that.

Now, if your child begins to worry about you, (and they will do just that) it requires more thought on your part. You must be kindhearted and tender with a child in this predicament.

Perhaps, if you do not believe, you can dissuade them from the worry by simply stating that they need not worry about you, and that you will be along when God calls you.

Again, not a lie, but you have shielded a portion of the truth. You really don't know your status, but this gives hope.

Why are you making the assumption that heaven is a lie?

just what exactly about GOD is what you consider a lie? he created the earth, water, animals, plants and man and woman, he gave us free will to choose on our own to love him after all he did give his only son to die on the cross for our sins when none of us were deserving of it, he always gives us a way out from our problems, he comforts us and we are healed by the blood of Jesus, he is our redeemer our savior, and this is just naming a few of what is TRUE about GOD...he is not a LIE if you child is dying as a mother i would make sure they are saved and accepted Jesus as their lord and savior and from the sounds of it i think you need to do the same...i will pray for you and your child!

I would find it very hard to tell that lie. I would focus my time on making that child happy and let him live his last days as best he can
