TASLEEMA NASREEN is a hot cake these days. May be she always was but for all the wrong reasons. I mean, let's be honest, how many of us even knew her before she came out of her closet with her profane piece of writing? She certainly has a large audience now, considering the "HATE ISLAM" campaign running all over the world. Not surprising how she has found sudden admirers in the prejudiced political parties of India. I have no complaints as I know she will only manage to influence people who were, as it is, waiting for a voice to reverberate their hatred for the religion. What bothers me is the way Muslims are behaving towards the whole issue. I understand that she has vomited her blasphemy in the name of books but are’nt we Muslims living up to her misconceptions about ISLAM and Muslim men by behaving equally bad with her? After all she is a woman. Don’t you think the best way to prove her wrong in her prejudices about ISLAM is by being tolerant with her? Even if she is trying to gain any cheap publicity by doing such things, by ignoring her we will have bursted her bubble even before it takes shape? Most importantly, Why and How did we forget what our PROPHET MUHAMMAD (P.B.U.H) taught us? Did HE (P.B.U.H) not suffer; at the hands of HIS (P.B.U.H) own people when HE (P.B.U.H) set out to spread the word of ALLAH? Had ISLAM been the second most followed religion in the world if HE (P.B.U.H) would have reacted the way we are reacting today? There are several HADITHS which hint us at how HE (P.B.U.H) would have handled HIS (P.B.U.H) or critics of ISLAM in today's scenario.
To begin with, PROPHET HAS SAID "HE, WHO IS NOT MERCIFUL TO OTHERS, WILL NOT BE TREATED MERCIFULLY", BUKHARI (073:042)
Let us see .how he practiced what HE (P.B.U.H) preached.....
1. His story with the Jewish neighbor who used to THROW GARBAGE at his doorsteps:
The Prophet had this Jewish neighbor. Everyday the neighbor would throw his garbage at the Prophet’s door! Then, one day, the garbage stopped appearing. The Prophet wondered why and asked people about what had happened to his neighbor. He was told that the neighbor was sick, in bed. So, the Prophet went and visited his Jewish neighbor to make sure he’s OK and to wish him well. So touched was the Jewish neighbor that he later converted to Islam.
2. His story with the people of Ta’if who’s children STONED him:
One day the Prophet visited the village of Ta’if near Mecca. He was hoping to find support amongst the people of that area after he was shunned by many of his own tribe in Mecca. Instead of support, he was faced by a mob of children, sent by their parents to throw stones at him. He was hit by the hail of stones. He was bleeding, and was barely able to escape into an orchard. He could have asked for God’s wrath to be brought down upon the village, but instead he prayed that one day these people will see the light.
3. His story with his tribe after he conquered Mecca:
When the Prophet’s army finally conquered his hometown Mecca, many of the leaders of his tribe were filled with fear. They feared the conqueror’s retribution. Most of them NEVER BELIEVED in him. They TORTURED and KILLED many of his followers and CONSPIRED TO KILL HIM in the early days of his Prophethood. What did the Prophet do? He told them: “Go. You are free!”
ARE WE EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE TO THIS?
