No, probably not, since there is no law that would require the school to mention it. You may be an annoyance, but not a large problem.

I'm religious, and don't believe that religion has a place in the public schools. If you want to see the baby Jesus mentioned in a Christmas play, then go to a Christmas play on your own time. A public school will likely contain the children of Jews, Muslims, Pagans, atheists, Hindus, and others, as well as Christians (and this includes all of the Christian denominations that differ from yours). Turn it into a Christian-based play, and then these other people are offended, as well. To me, the best solution is to keep religious matters at home. Could you start an uproar about it? Probably. But is that really a peaceful Christian solution? Attending a Christmas play on your own time would seem to be the more logical answer.

Probably not, because you're entitled to your beliefs and to state your opinion. However, we have separation of church and state for a reason. It's still the great equalizer after all these years. Not everyone believes the same things as you, so it's necessary to consider that the mention of Jesus in a public school play wouldn't suit everyone's needs, either., and might even offend a larger portion of the parents. A better way to handle it, I think, would be to approach your KID(S) about the play and have a good conversation about what you believe and have faith in as a family, as well as the fact that there are other belief systems in the world. That would help your kids understand why Jesus was not included in the play. They'll have their faith reinforced, as well as understanding a little about the way the world works in general. Also, you'll probably get to learn something about what your kids believe in the process, which can probably add to the meaning of the season for you. Enjoy your holidays, and Merry Christmas when we get to it!

Do you have any idea why we have churches in this country? I take it you don't, because you seem to think schools are where religion should be taught. Why take pot shots at atheist, by making sarcastic comments like this? Can you not realize that the separation of church and state, protects your religious beliefs as much as it does my atheist beliefs? What if the Muslim or Jewish religion were to gain a lot of influence in this country? If the separation of church and state were not in effect, your Christian child, could be indoctrinated into the Muslim or Jewish faith. Do you understand that? Or is it that you and people like you don't care? Is it that you want all children to be brainwashed into being Christians, then you won't have to worry about the Muslims or Jews ever gaining a large enough following to be a threat? Ahhh, maybe we have touched on the nerve which is really making you angry. Is that it? Keep your silly beliefs in the church where they belong and everyone will be better off for it. The answer to your question is no, you cannot cause a large problem for the public schools system.

Well here's the thing. Do a little bit of research and you'll learn that baby jesus had no business being in the holiday play as jesus has nothing at all to do with yule.

no, stand up for Jesus' name. You will never hurt anyone but yourself by keeping it in.
By the way, I am also offended that Jesus was not even mentioned in the "Holiday" Play.

I would be extremely offended! But can we really expect the public schools to actually put something in their "holiday" program that contradicts what they teach in their schools? (a.k.a. evolution) Some of the students might actually try to read the Christmas story in the Bible, and then *gasp* flip over to Genesis where they read the REAL origin of the universe. The school board could never let that happen!

You could, but you would lose. Separation of church and state. You're lucky the school had a holiday play at all.

'Tis a shame for the tender baby Jesus. He just doesn't get as much attention these days, what with all the other imaginary beings to compete with....
