It is very interesting that there was only one question on this subject, on R & S ,when it is in the headlines everywhere else.
I personally believe that this was a hate crime and the "church" should be closed down. (I know that is not possible). Hate, prejudice, bigotry was only part of what this family suffered because of the horrible actions, of the members of this congregation.

Democratic?

"Phelps has run in various Kansas Democratic Party primaries five times, but has never won. These included races for governor in 1990, 1994, and 1998, receiving about 15% of the vote in 1998. In the 1992 Democratic Party primary for U.S. Senate, Phelps received 31% of the vote Phelps ran for mayor of Topeka in 1993 and 1997."

You don't have to name the groups you can't stand but you can admit you don't like some for the way they look rather than the content of their character.

Bibically and historically, true worship has consistently been liturgical. "Spontaneous: worship in an innovation of the last century or so. Liturgical worship, written prayers (the Psalms), and feasts days were the norm throughout the history of Israel (see Ex. 23:14-19; 241, 2). The worship of heaven is liturgical (Is. 6:1-9; Heb. 8:1-3; Rev. 4). The foundations of liturgical worship in the Church are apparent in the New Testament. The most oft-repeated prayer of the Church is there (Matt. 6:9-13). The words we say at baptism are there(Matt 28:19). The words spoken at Holy Communion are there, with Saint Paul repeating Jesus' words(1 Cor. 11:23-26). Further, the believers in Acts 13:2 about A.D. 49, were seen in a liturgical service to the Lord: "As they ministered[Greek: leitourgouation, the root word for "liturgy"] to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said..." Note, too, in this passage that the Holy Spirit speeks to us during liturgical worship.

I was Mormon my whole life, but just recently decided to officially leave the Mormon church. I sent a letter requesting my name be removed from the records. I stated in the letter that the only contact I wanted from the church was a letter stating it had been done. They then sent me a letter stating my "local leaders" had to handle it. And yesterday the bishop showed up at my house unannounced, and uninvited. I refused to talk to him, so my wife (who is still active) told him I wouldn't talk to him. He harrassed her for a second, and then demanded my temple recommend. After he left I called the police and had them issue him a tresspass warning basically stating that if he came back to my house to contact me, he would be arrested for tresspassing. He is however, allowed to come by to visit my wife if she wishes, but he must call first. Did I go too far in getting the law involved?

On halloween my gf dared me to dress up as a girl and i was real hesistant and didnt want to do it at first, but then I did it and actually had a lot of fun. Now that halloween is over, I wouldn't mind doing this again sometime, but how do I get my gf to help me dress up again, instead of waiting for next halloween? I dont want her to think that I'm turning to the other team or anything, I just wouldn't mind doing this again sometime if we were both bored.

The Scriptures themselves call us to honor other Christians, both the living and departed. In Acts 28:10, Saint Luke writes, "They also honorus in many ways." The biblical injuction concerning Mary, "All generations will call me blessed" (Luke 1:48), is an example of how we are to honor the saints for all time(see also Heb. 11:4-40). We are to honor all believers and true authorities, not just departed ones. This why Saint Paul exhorts us to honor one another(1 Tim. 5:17), and why Saint Peter tells husbands to honor their wives (1 Pet. 3:7). We are called to obay and honor our civil authorities (Rom. 13:1-7). In Orthodox worship, we see pictures or icons of the believers of history all around us. This is, in part, how we honor our forerunners in the Faith. In prase and worship of God. We come to join "an innumerable company of angels," and "the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven," and "the spirits of just men made perfect."

"I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!" (Galatians 1:6-9)
