Will the World Really end in 2012?

I am a believer, but I see no reason to believe that the world is ending in 2012.

A quick study of Christian history will show you that believers have often thought THEY were living in the end times and they were proven wrong.

The great Apostle Paul believed the world was ending very soon. That was nearly 2000 years ago.

Scripture says Christ will return like a thief in the night and that we do not know the hour or the day. It is vain and foolish to try to predict and that's not the most important thing anyway.

Whether the world ends today or 2000 years from now these essentials remain - repent, strive for virtue and spread the Gospel.

Pax Vobiscum+

There may be a bit of trouble. After all, on New Years Eve, 12/1999, a lot of people thought the world would come to an end. Mostly, you just have to start a new calender (even the Mayans).

At worst, if some true disaster does happen, there will be survivors. There are just too many people everywhere. We'll just start all over. One good thing, there will be too few people to make large wars. Remember the plagues of Europe, they were considered to be the end of the world, too.

Only one way to find out.

It also may not mean that the world will end in literal sense. Maybe we will enter a different time period. You know, like going from the Dark Ages to Renaissances, from the 50s to the 60s. From the economic and cultural boom of the 20s to the Great Depression. That type of deal. I don't know, this is just one way of looking at this.

The Mayans(and some other ancient tribes) based on their observations of the stars, believed that this world goes and has been going through different cycles every couple centuries. They predicted that in the year 2012, this world would enter its final cycle. Now the final cycle of what? That is up for interpretations.

I think the guys who were writing the Mayan calendar took a break and then decided they would just stop with the work. Maybe they retired or died because they were old. Who knows why they stopped writing it? Who cares? No one knows when the end is - only God. It will come when he decides it's time for it to come.

No. It's just another date the "end-of-the-worlders" have jumped on. They've been saying the end is near for 2000 years now.

Yes...until 1/1/2013 and then it will end, again, in 2020.
