I am not a Christian, but I have to say I have gotten tired of the number of times I have seen people say some variation of "why would god allow suffering" or "I don't believe in god because there is so much suffering".

We have free will, which means we have the power to choose to do evil, or to choose to do good. It is impossible to stop us from doing evil without taking away our free will. Unfortunately, that means there will be victims of the evil we choose to do. However, we are responsible for our actions!

Do you agree/disagree with this and why?

a 'Flaming Dr. Pepper'!!!!

To make a Flaming Dr. Pepper, you're going to need a bottle of 151 proof rum as well as a bottle of amaretto and plenty of light beer. The preparation of the drink can be easily ruined, so take heed for the following directions:

Take a shot glass and fill it ¾ full with amaretto. Top the shot with 151 - it should end up layered on top. Fill a pint glass halfway full with light beer. Now comes the showmanship part - using a lighter, carefully light the top of the shot on fire. The 151 will burn off the top of the shot, and once it's lit, you need to drop it into the pint glass. The concoction will fizz up, and you need to down it as soon as you can.

By some act of God, the drink actually tastes amazingly like Dr. Pepper - shocking, considering there isn't a single non-alcoholic ingredient in the mix!

ENJOY!!!

NAIROBI, Kenya - The U.S. Navy was tracking a hijacked Japanese tanker off the coast of Somalia on Thursday with the aim of removing the attackers from the ship.

The Navy came to the vessel's aid this week when a warship destroyed pirate skiffs tied to the Japanese boat.

Naval personnel also boarded a North Korean vessel to treat crew members and pirates wounded during an uprising that returned the ship to its rightful control. One hijacker was killed, and the others remain detained on board, including three with gunshot wounds.

In the second paragraph, I want to know what's a vessel's aid.

In the third paragraph, I want to know the meaning of boarded a north korean vessel, rightful control.

Ok, Why Is That?

Even Though They Are in 5th and 7th grade and I'm In 8th, Why Are The Black Kids Being So Racist?

Is There Like This War Against Them?

Are They Just Being Told To Not Like Chinese Cuz We're Different?

Its ******* Annoying, I Feel Like I Wanna Deck Them Right Now, To Teach Them A Lesson; Treat People The Way U Wanna Be Treated, Or Else I'll Treat You The Same As You Treated Me.

I'm probably opening a rather large can of worms with this one, but I'm curious.

Why are people who are Anti-Abortion referred to as "Pro-Life"? Yes, They're Pro-Life, but they're more Anti-Abortion, aren't they? And why are Pro-Choicers equated with being "Pro-Death"?

I, for one, am Pro-Choice. Does this mean I'm Anti-Life or Pro-Death? No. I can't imagine getting an abortion if I were to get pregnant. But what matters isn't whether I choose Abortion or not.

What matters is that I have the choice. THAT is what Pro-Choicers, TRUE Pro-Choicers are all about. One cay be Pro-Choice and Pro-Life, you know.

All right, guys! Have at it, tell me what a horrible murder I am! :)

There will be a new children's movie out in December called " The Golden Compass". The movie has been described as "atheism for kids" and is based on the first book of a trilogy entitled "His Dark Materials" that was written by Phillip Pullman. Pullman is a militant atheist and secular humanist who despises C. S. Lewis and the "Chronicles of Narnia". His motivation for writing this trilogy was specifically to counteract Lewis' symbolisms of Christ that are portrayed in the Narnia series.
>
> Clearly, Pullman 's main objective is to bash Christianity and promote atheism. Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003 interview that "my books are about killing God." He has even stated that he wants to "kill God in the minds of children". It has been said of Pullman that he is "the writer the atheists would be praying for, if atheists prayed."
>
> While "The Golden Compass" movie itself may seem mild and innocent, the books are a much different story. In the trilogy, a young streetwise girl becomes enmeshed in an epic struggle to ultimately defeat the oppressive forces of a senile God. Another character, an ex-nun, describes Christianity as "a very powerful and convincing mistake." In the final book, characters representing Adam and Eve eventually kill God, who at times is called YAHWEH. Each book in the trilogy gets progressively worse regarding Pullman 's hatred of Jesus Christ.
>
> "The Golden Compass" is set to premier on December 7, during the Christmas season, and will probably be heavily advertised. Promoters hope that unsuspecting parents will take their children to see the movie, that they will enjoy the movie, and that the children will want the books for Christmas.
>
> Please consider a boycott of the movie and the books. Also, pass this information along to everyone you know. This will help to educate parents, so that they will know the agenda of the movie.

You can go to http://www.goldencompassmovie.com to see more about the movie.

I don't recall the exact stats, but we have always heard that the percentage of Atheists compared to religious believers on this planet was very low. However, it sure seems like on the web (and particularity on yahoo answers) there is a significantly high portion of Atheists, possibly even 50/50.

Is this because when hiding behind the internet (being anonymous), people are less afraid to express their real feelings (church goers who in realty do not believe in religion), or that the stats of Atheists to those with religious beliefs are actually way off?
