I have my own flat moving in soon.
I have college and a part time job but I'm dreading coming home to quietness. I'm used to living in the halls of residence so there were always people around.

Learn to enjoy your quiet time. Spend it on yourself. Read a book, write letters or call your friends. Watch some TV. Look for hobbies. Also, some people keep the radio or the TV on while doing something else since silence can be a little bit depressing.

If you get lonely you could just drop by your old friends' dorms (halls of residence), shoot the ****, smoke a blunt (or a spliff for you Brits, I guess) hang out and then go home and go to bed. That's what I used to do and it was the best of both worlds: no annoying people making noise and coming by unannounced, no lonely nights at home.

I am living alone right now, and can't have a pet . . . for me, the first thing that I do is turn on the radio. I need the noise. If that's not working, I will open my front door and sit on my deck, reading . . . the noises from the street are soothing. Just stay busy. Good luck!

I used to worry about that too, after a few weeks, I LOVED the peace and quiet. You get to watch whatever you want on TV....you never have to share a bathroom. You can eat when you want and what you want...in the front of the TV.....it becomes nice. The radio is yours to control....you will get used to it. Invite friends over for a while til you get used to it.

Thank God for a chance to live by yourself! Before I married I lived by myself for years. I loved it! I done exactly what I wanted to do . You'll get used to the quietness, turn on your tv or the radio.lol

Can you get a pet?? Perhaps a cat?
It's nice to come home to some peace and quiet but having a pet to share it with makes it that much better.
Just a thought.

I always turned on the tv or music when I got home. That way, it wasn't so quiet.
