right, we don't need it to survive either. their claim is that we need to believe so that we don't burn in hell.... to "justify" this, believers say that other living things don't have souls so they won't burn in hell (or whatever their version of hell is). it's all nonsense.

Christians reject reincarnation for two main reasons. The first is because the Bible does not teach it, and in fact makes it clear that when we die we don't return to earth again but enter eternity—either with God in heaven or apart from God forever. The Bible says, "Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment" (Hebrews 9:27). The second reason Christians reject reincarnation is because Christ has paid the full penalty for our sins—totally and completely. He did this by His death on the cross for us. You say you hope to become perfect some day in another life—but Jesus has already made us perfect in God's eyes, by taking away all our sins! The Bible says, "But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 6:11). Think of it: Every sin you have ever committed can be completely cleansed, if you will turn to Christ in repentance and faith! Don't be deceived by a false hope, but put your faith and hope in Christ today.

Not necessarily. We think we are smarter than we really are most of the time. Other living things do not have either reason or free will. It is not necessary for them to have knowledge of religion as they never went against God's will.
Humans have all three things making it important to understand the need to worship God as our Creator. It is the only thing we can offer our Creator that He does not already own.

Exactly.... every creature that swims, crawls walks or flies does so with what nature gave them. They are living testament to the glory of nature. Our big brains and even bigger imaginations cause us to look outside of nature (reality) for answers.
Religion is a crutch and a crippler of mankind. How many times have we created something that we've become dependent on and it ends up ruling our lives? it's so human.
Whether we are smarter than animals, I honestly think that context is everything. There are many creatures that surpass us on various categories: better organization, little or no violence against members of same species, living in harmony with nature.
Are we smarter..... really?
Pantheist.

All other living things do is breathe, eat, and poop. If humans were content to do only those things, then we would be fine without religion and philosophy. Part of being human is wondering about the nature of our world and our place in it. Humans crave purpose. Its not enough for a human just to live, we need to find things to be passionate about. Religion is an attempt to find purpose and meaning in our lives and in the world around us.

From the way you stated your question, you are looking at religion as something foolish or, at least, a negative.
Theologically speaking, it is nessesary as we, as spiritual beings, posess an innate desire to worship something. Be that family, money, traditions or a god, we are all pulled to be devoted to one thing.
Now, why that is may be difficult to narrow down as it depends on what you believe. Personally, I believe that God, as creator, designed us to seek Him. Until we have Him, we will constantly seek to fill the void with something - anything - as we are discontented and unhappy until we are filled with His presence, His peace, His forgiveness and His love. He desires, not religion, but relationship with you. I would encourage you to, firstly, look at why you view "religion" as something weak and then from there, check out your local church and find out which one directs you to a personal relationship with The Triune God.

That's precisely why humans need religion.
We can reason further than most other animals on this planet, if not all. So we complicate things, and need somethng to comfort us and give us hope. We need faith, psychologically, because without it, we wouldn't be able to mentally cope with all the things that can, and do happen.
Not saying Religion is bad or even that it's false. It's just something we need.

Other living things are not morally accountable before a holy God. WE, on the other hand, were created in the very image of God.
If we're so smart, how come we're still so self-centered and selfish? It's a moral problem, not intelligence.
Even the rocks obey God. If it's about intelligence, you're telling me that a rock is smarter than you!

Do you think perhaps it is a mere coincidence that:
a) we are the smartest beings on the planet, and;
b) the only ones who are religious?
Could it be that, rather than being a primitive aspect of conciousness, in fact our spiritual sensibilities are a reflection of our cognitive capabilities? That it takes the "smarter than they are" to get us to the point of asking that perhaps there is a reason for all of this? That there is conceivably a purpose to life, and even an end-goal?
After all, it is not for nothing that the only other beings that have shown any capacity for spirituality are the next smartest animal, chimpanzees - who watch sunsets in awe.

where did you find out that no other living things have knowledge of religion? i have always assumed that all living things are creatures of God and therefore have a place in Heaven with him. Just because they don't get in a car a drive to church does not mean that nothing spiritual is happening in their groups of the like...???
and as far as intelligence goes, what is right and what is wrong? what is smart what is not? all things are perception.

Their beliefs are of no consequence to them. They do not consider the things they do because they do not have a soul or spirit, just a body. Religion does not feed the body, it feeds the soul and spirit.
