NAIROBI, Kenya - The U.S. Navy was tracking a hijacked Japanese tanker off the coast of Somalia on Thursday with the aim of removing the attackers from the ship.

The Navy came to the vessel's aid this week when a warship destroyed pirate skiffs tied to the Japanese boat.

Naval personnel also boarded a North Korean vessel to treat crew members and pirates wounded during an uprising that returned the ship to its rightful control. One hijacker was killed, and the others remain detained on board, including three with gunshot wounds.

In the second paragraph, I want to know what's a vessel's aid.

In the third paragraph, I want to know the meaning of boarded a north korean vessel, rightful control.

They mean coming to help the captive crew on that ship - that is "coming to the vessel's aid."

They mean removing the hijackers so the crew and owners control their own ship again - that is "rightful control."

as for the second paragraph, its referring to the japanese tanker. It says later in the first paragraph "Japanese tanker off the coast of Somalia on Thursday with the aim of removing the attackers from the ship." The key words are tanker and ship. When it says "The Navy came to the vessel's aid" they are talking about the Japanese tanker. Boarded a north korean vessel means they just got on board of the north korean boat. As for rightful control, its talking about how when something is hijacked, its not under control of the main people. Think of 9/11. The plane was hijacked, meaning people got on and took control. This article is talking about a hijacked Japanese boat that they took back control of.

Hope this helped.
