Except in very rare cases: Mental instability or mental defect was the only way to save yourself from the hallows or whatever the capital punishment of the day happened to be.
Atheists, Jews, Pagans, etc didn't stand a chance, so we met in secret and kept our beliefs.

You would think, that after all this time, they would understand that; We do not wish to be converted to their beliefs, what part of "NO" don't they understand?

I have always been curious- you say that there is no proof that God exists- what if you lived at the time that Jesus came to earth, would you have believed then, even after He was resurrected? Jesus said- "blessed are those who believe and have not seen" I am just interested to see how many non-believers would really believe if Jesus would come today- He just may!

I dont think disbelief in the supernatural automatically means you have a disbelief in the paranormal as well. Or does it? In your opinonon. Im an atheist and I do believe some people have clarivoyant abilities.

It seems odd, that if Jehovah's Witnesses are to have absolutely no association with anything of pagan origin, why they would print on the cover of every Watchtower and Awake magazine, the names of the months of the year...These are Pagan.

The days of the week also have acquired their names from pagan origins.

I think science took the place of religion in explaining the inexplicable, and does it in a very convincing way that leaves no room for doubt; Religion on the other hand lacks credibility.
So my question is in what way is religion still relevant in today's society?

This was actually my answer to a question of the same sort.....

I keep saying the prayer for sinners to receive the Lord as my Savior. And I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for me, but I think I'm doing something wrong because it doesn't seem to stick.

No, no, no, no I don't expect this huge bright light, explosion or anything like that. I pray a lot and a few of the times I get results. But a long, long time ago my parents told me that "God hates you too" and I can't seem to shake that. I just don't feel like I fit into the same world as Jesus Christ.

It's like I say the prayer, have a ton of hope, but then nothing changes. But I am not exactly sure what is suppose to happen/change either.

The Catholics have a Pope. Protestants laugh at them, and yet the Pope is capable of intellectual advancement. In addition to this, the Pope is mortal, and the church cannot be afflicted with the same idiot forever. The Protestants have a book for their Pope. The book cannot advance. Year after year, and century after century, the book remains as ignorant as ever. --Robert Ingersoll

FAITH

F=Forgiveness Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.

A=Available but not Automatic; John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believed in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

I=Impossible It is impossible for God to be in the presence of sin. Psalms 5:4 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.

T=Truth Turn & Trust: God is Just, and man is sinful. Hebrews 9:27-28 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement: So christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; an unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. There are no second chances! Romans 3:23 For ALL have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Luke 13:3 I tell you,Nay:but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Turn to Christ for he died for us and our sins. Trust in him alone! 1Corinthians 15:3-4 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that herose again the third day according to the scriptures. Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

H=Heaven & Hereafter; Heaven and eternal life through Christ alone. John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Promise to the hereafter; John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and recieve you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Now go back to Romans 10:9

Now you have read the truth, the true and only Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Is there any reason why you wouldnt want to except Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior??
May God be with you for now and eternity!

The other day I was painting and I had a cup of water that I was using to wash my brush with. The paintbrush turned the water into colored water, and I wanted to know what it tasted like, so I tried some of it. It tasted like paint. Paint happens to be one of my favorite foods, so I drank the entire cup of water. I felt ok for a while, but then I started to feel pretty sick and I threw up.
Does the word of wisdom specifically say anything about paint water?

I have been trying the best that I can to find a place to live for 2 months and I have been having no luck. Every apartment I have applied for they tell me I dont make enough money. (They want me to make three times the amount of the rent, I only make about twice as much) I had a baby three weeks ago, and I have a two year old, and a fourteen year old that I am mostly taking care of alone. I only have two weeks left in my current residence and I am out of options. I have turned in the last application for the only place left in the town that I live in that I can afford to move into. I haven't heard back from them yet, I wont until monday and though my chances are okay, I have little hope left considering how things have gone. I was wondering if anyone out there wouldn't mind including me as a footnote in there prayers tonight, I could use all the help I can get.Thanks.
