I would create a religion that would suit humanity in this day and age. The old Kosher laws of the Bible were excellent in making the people who followed it engage in healthy activities for their time. Now my religion would stress less on reproductive laws and even more on charity and environmental health. We no longer need to feel that our populatin will fall below sustainable levels if there are not enough children produced, we need to focus more on being able to handle the environment so that it is able to sustain our population.

Religion less religion. One has to know one's own self to know that he is not the physical body, the knower of the physical body is formless and non-dual. Therefore the self is not physical but formless and non-dual which is called Spirit or Atman.
Therefore when the self is Spirit it does not requires the religion and its god and scripters. because there is no second thing other then itself.
Thus it is necessary to know what self is to discover and realize the fact that man and his experience of the world is mere illusion on the standpoint of the formless non dual spirit which is the true self or real identity.
Thus it is necessary for the modern mindset to come out of outdated religious dogmas and discover and realize one's own self to realize the fact that man and the world and his idea of god and no god are mere illusion on the standpoint of the spirit which is the true SELF.

I don't preach to people and do not like being preached to...
If I could ever be bothered to create my own religion it would mean that I have too much spare time or that I am losing my mind...

I already HAVE resurrected the ancient faith of Egypt and have been "injecting" back into the main stream. Not a religion, but a FAITH, the ancient egyptians believed the LORD did enough for us already and WE are his "Gods" to take care of all he gave us. Jesus was one of "us" and all he taught was mistakenly taken out of context as being "Jewish." Unlike present religions, the faith simply taught that WE are to be personally responsible for ourselves and our lives where religions teach we should rely on THEM so we can get to heaven. It's why so many of religion are FAILURES. The Lord in heaven needs MATURE people who can think for themselves, not a bunch of children who can't even wipe their own nose without wondering if it is a SIN. Religions do nothing but instill so many fears in people that it is why so many throw away the most precious gift they own. Their "life."

It would be much like where I worship now. I would go back and say I want to speak where the Bible speaks and be silent where the Bible is silent. I want to bind the things in the Bible to Christians and not bind things not specifically bound in the Bible. I would stress obedience to the Bible but at the same time, stress the forgiveness for the things that have been corrected and show sorrow for having done the thing. It would be called The Way or The Church.

It would be more along the lines of peace, love, forgiveness, acceptance...oh, wait...isn't that what Christ taught? Dang nabbit! Ah, well; since most Christians seem to have forgotten what their God's avatar taught, I could probably just copy the four Gospels, reword them and sell it as a new religion anyway...

that isn't any longer extremely incorrect in any respect. in case you had requested the Buddha if he had wanted to create a faith or if he had said a faith, he might want to have instructed you no, that he in basic terms has a philosophy of existence. And if you're an Otaku, would I ask if this idea of yours is inspired by technique of an anime?

we would worship a god who is actually forgiving, who wont judge you for your sexuality or whether you believe in him or not, but how you behaved on earth and if you were a good person or not. and he wont just look at your actions but the motives behind them, because sometimes people do bad things for a good reason, and others do good things for a bad reason.
as proof of it, some people lie to avoid hurting feelings, and some tell the truth in a mean way to hurt feelings.

I've often considered something that had Murphy's Law as the main teaching. Understanding that no matter how well things are going, something will screw it up, puts life into perspective.
