Lotta reactionaries...nobody knows for sure whether homosexuality has increased or decreased or remained steady.
But in scientific studies using mice, overcrowding increased the rate of homosexuality and disease until the populaiton found a sustainable level and then the homosexuality rate dropped off.
If this study can be transferred to humans, thenyou can say the rate of homosexuality is at least influenced by envronmental factors as well as genetics and social factors. - or perhaps environmental factors influence all the other factors.

But the fear that the world will one day be ruled by raging homosexuals is your basic paranoia probably brought on by a level of uncertainty of your own sexuality and spurred on by those who profit from your fears.

Depends on how you define the number. As it stands, homosexuals are still a bit "outcast" in modern society, which is really a shame. Most people tend to believe that homosexuality is a genetic difference in them, that they're "just made that way". Others believe that it's learned behavior, usually caused by some traumatic sexual abuse in childhood. I've met people who fit both these descriptions.

Today we have a small percentage of the global polulation who admits to being homosexual. BUT - that's not all of them. There are millions of closet homosexuals who live in FEAR every day because if they "come out" to their family or friends, they could be ostracized, disowned, beat, or even worse - just ask Matthew Shepherd's mother.

So, the actual number of homosexuals will increase relative to the rate of human population expansion, or recession (in the case of war, etc.). The number of ADMITTED homosexuals will increase relative to society's ability to accept them as they are.

And I'd just like to add: as a straight guy, I'll be the first to tell you I find gay people kind of disturbing, but all that I've met have been good, upstanding folks who are just a little different. Since there's no scientific proof about what causes homosexuality, we as a culture and as a society, should make NO value judgments on these people whatsoever. It may be a naturally occurring phenomenon, it could also be an unfortunate mutation of the human genome. But until we know FOR SURE, we should treat these people with equality and respect, 100% of the way. This is the basis for my argument in support of gay marriage.

The number of homosexuals has always been the same throughout history. About 10% of the population, maybe more. It only seems like there is more now because, society is begining to become more and more accepting of different lifestyles. So my answer is nothing will happen, it will remain the same as it always has except a better place for people who don't fit the "normals"...

OK, I'm straight, but it's my opinion that IF homosexuality is on the rise, and there's no truth either way as the studies weren't done for the last fifty thousand years or so, IF this is true, THEN it's a result of overpopulation and that THEREFORE homosexuality is the Earth's bio-evolutionary method of slowing resource depletion. Make sense? Anybody?

If this is what you are referring to, there will not be a major problem with the earth's population, whether the number of homosexuals increases or not. The only things that will wipe out humans are:

1. Lack of natural resources (i.e water, gas)

2. Destruction of the earth (perhapd from global warming)

3. Massive, powerful and unstoppable spreading of disease/viruses

Homosexuals will be included in the above disasters, along with heterosexuals, bisexuals and transgender individuals.

firstly, i congratulate you for raising this question as our world today is filled with hypocrites who are pretending of accepting something as grose and unnatural as homosexuality. yes, i said UNNATURAL. i challenge any person reading this answer to prove that this element was god given. no it was never and has existed in human beings ever since the time of PROPHET LOT(P.B.U.H). even then the respective PROPHET(P.B.U.H) had told the people to refrain form this tendency as it is not given by LORD rather inculcated in us by devil. it is a kind of orientation which develops and can be stopped with councelling provided if done at the right age. i ask, if it is normal, then why is it that either of the partner invoved in such a relationship wants to play the part of a woman? why don't they meet like two MEN are attracted to each other, i mean, physically there are MEN but mentally one of them wants to be a woman. this itself proves that even they know that the normal tendency of relationships between two human beings is that of man and a woman(as given by LORD) and not two men or two women. Our Beloved PROPHET MUHAMMAD(P.B.U.H) had given this prophecy 1400 yrs ago that during the last phase of this earth, that is when the dooms day will be nearing us, we will have loads of homosexuals and lesbians around us. what his prophecy also points at is the fact that they will be as prevelant as the normal human relationships cause nothing can be so abudantly witnessed unless people have accepted it to be normal, right? and no prizes for guessing which country in this world was the first to acknowledge gay marraiges, yes, america. that country can do any thing in the name of freedom. tomorrow any woman there will say i want to roam naked, they will allow that also coz that is FREEDOM of expression of self! don't worry friend, these are signs of the last phase of this world, we are only nearing the day of judgement with each passing day. May ALLAH keep us away from this evil.

What, is being gay trendy now? The number isn't actually increasing, more people are honest and open about their sexuality now. And what would be the big deal if the number did go up? Do you think the world would come to an end? Try to be more open minded.

if homosexuals keep increasing, you properly will see guy and guy holding hand, girl and girl kissing on the street.. We always view the homosexuals differently, but actually, they're just normal human beings like us..

The percentage of the population has remained at about 10% and the greater exposure is due to more openness. With enough openness the flaky gay showing off and compulsive promiscuity will die away and life will be less confrontational.

Less children will be born, which woul dbe great for the overpopulation-There are millions of kids in fostercare and orphanages around the world. Homosexual couples will hopefully take part in the adoption programs and give these children loving homes they deserve. Much better world, b.c there will be room made for children who weren't wanted by heterosexuals.
