What is the actuall definition of a christian or what is a true/real chrsitian? I hear so much I don't know what it is. I want to know how do you become a christian also. I really don't call my self anything but sometimes a baptist and i dont even think I am on. I dont like to call my self any thing because I think as long as i am a believer i follower his words, commandments, and even what the bible says...I don't know that is where I am confused at. so you think I am right by doing this, like i go to a African medodist espicical chruch and i have know i deal the difference of that and a christian..I dont know i just need help in finding out what they mean, or how they differ ..and to figure out what i am.

Why do you not do as you are told in these scriptures?

"If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them; ... And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear." (Deuteronomy 21:18-21)

"And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death." (Exodus 21:17)

"For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he that cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him." (Leviticus 20:9)

And don't try to tell me that none of you have rebellious sons, I know a few that have left the religion (which I think would constitute rebellious) and they have not been stoned.
Or is it that you ignore them for legal reasons?

As a new member here I am so appalled at some of the things I read, from believers and non believers. I am a Christian, but I am learning here that I am not like most that frequent these forums. I truly believe everyone has a right to believe what they want. We never see Jesus beating up on non believers, we do however see Him making a whip and running believer out of the temple. I have seen Christians here tell non believers they are going to hell, I have seen them call non believers fools. This is just unexcitable to me. I do not want to have the non believers here looking down on me because of the way a select few choose to act.

So my question is to the non believers : What is it that you dislike about Christians, what they believe or how they act?

What would you say to this child about the love of God?

Orthodox Catholics simply do not worship Mary as God -- and it gets a little tiring being accused of worshipping Mary as God when you don't.
It amounts to being called a liar and is quite rude.
We Catholics would be the ones to know Whom we consider God and whom we don't.
I love my biological Mother, too, but don't mistake her for the Lord!
I honor her, keep in touch with her, look after her, celebrate her special days, would get mad if someone were to insult her -- and I do the same for Jesus's Mother.
My love for my Mother doesn't mean I don't love my Father, too.

It just strikes me as evil, this not uncommon attempt to diminish Mary's status and the unceasing accusations against Catholics of trying to raise her status to that of God's. There's something very sinister and ugly in it, and I find it offensive.
We Catholics take great care in pointing out that "worship" in the sense of latria is GOD'S alone -- even to the point of having separate terms for the honor and adoration due to God as opposed to the honor and veneration of the Saints -- including His greatest Saint, Mary.
They are:


latria: the honor due to God alone
dulia: the honor due to human creatures worthy of respect
hyperdulia: the honor due to Mary as God's greatest creation and our Queen Mother



When we love Christ, does that prevent us from loving each other? No! Love is infinite because God, Who is Love, is infinite! We can love and adore Jesus, love and venerate Mary, love the other Saints, and love each other without depriving anyone (or Anyone) of anything.
How many children can you have without running out of love? How many friends?
What we "spend" in love is replaced many times over; love for Christ can only bring the fruits of more love to give.

To love Mary takes nothing at all from Christ, but honors our Blessed Lord by Whose grace she is who she is: His greatest creation, the greatest of Saints, the Queen of Heaven, the Immaculate Conception, the spotless Virgin, the Ark of the Covenant, the New Eve, the mother of God, and the mother of Israel -- our mother who wants nothing more for us than to pray for us and show us her Son.


...And ask yourself why the heck we'd lie about not worshipping Mary as some sort of divine being if we actually did. Do you think we are ashamed? Afraid of what you might think? Do you think that we actually do worship Mary but don't tell converts until some secret ceremony held after they've been in the Church a few years and can be trusted?
I mean, really! Satanists have no qualms telling people they worship Satan, pagans have no problem informing the world that they worship the earth, Hindus are not uneager to reveal that they chant to Krishna -- but Catholics are "afraid" to "admit" whom they consider God?
Please! We are not afraid to tell you we believe in Purgatory, indulgences, the Communion of Saints, the efficacy of piously using sacramentals, the true grace of the Sacraments, the infallibility of the Pope when he uses his Extraordinary or Universal Magisterium, etc.
Trust me; if we thought Mary is a godess, we'd let you know.

As the obedient, infinitely holy Son of God, the Lord Jesus was a very firm believer in the commandment to honor one's father and mother. Now, what most people don't know about that commandment is that in Hebrew it literally reads, "Glorify your father and mother."We are to bring glory to our parents, and that includes not only our earthly, physical mother but our heavenly, spiritual mother as well. We are to imitate Christ, and just as he brought glory to his mother, we are to bring glory to her as well.

St. Luke's gospel (1:48) - "Behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed."

I wrote

"Amor mi familia" in my paper. my teacher said in his notes to "conjugate" and added an "a" to the end of "amor". when i looked it up, my dictionary said to write "Amo". so please help me to say "I love my family", which do I use:

i believe so!! this is especially true in third world countries!!
i know population growth is a massive problem and if we're going to solve it or learn about it, we need to know what factors are involved that favor this growth, and i believe religion is indeed one major factor. ...its not the only one but it is big.

but i want to know YOUR opinion about this...what are your thoughts?? im not trying to stir trouble, i am just curious about your opinions.

my wife is taking me to a costume party, She wants me sexy, feminine, and to really stand out (that seems redundant!) She is trying to decide which i should be, a french maid or a slave girl. Which should it be? She wants to go all out so any suggestions to really do it up would be great!!!!! You know, clothes, shoes, hair, makeup, accessories, any suggestions at all! The maid seems easy enough to do, lots of costumes (although any twists to make this more unique would be great), but not sure how we do the slave girl. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. I love America's next top model, but they make it seem like modelling is like performing a heart transplant or something. I understand it's hard work and there is more to it than being pretty, but REALLY it's about looking good, knowing how to pose, knowing how to walk and well, that's about it. I've done a few photoshoots myself, though nothing near that extreme, so I know it's tiring, but it's not like yiou have to go to school, get educated, and solve difficult problems every day, like a doctor or lawyer does. Have you modelled? Is it really that tough or is Tyra Banks dramatic?

I mean, we historians who know that Jesus did not exist in history have scoured and researched all the Christian sources and stupid sources, like TEKTONICS as well.

We know about Josh MacDowell, C.S. Lewis' Mere Christianity, Ravi Zacharias, Answersingenesis, etc, etc...

But whenever I demonstrate to Christians how Jesus never existed, they continually resort to these same sources, which I must show to them constantly how those Christian sources are short-sighted, or just plain wrong!

I mean, some of these Christian sources actually KNOW-BETTER! How can Christians so easily rationalize lying and manipulation?
