I don't know that anything I believe is truly based upon scientific theory.

Well, since morals, ethics and other human aspects are studied by science; since, the physical world is studied by science; since, perception, judgment and economic behaviors are studied by science I cannot think of anything left.

Certain philosophical issues are really the realm of mathematics, so in a sense yes I do have beliefs outside the realm of science. For example, I think I reject the Axiom of Choice, but I have not decided. This cannot be decided within the empirical realm.

Silly things like gods can be decided by science, but some of the hard stuff cannot. In fact, testing for a god is getting easier and easier. The presence of a god would have interesting implications for physics and a few other fields that would require different data than we have.

As far as I know, no one has wasted their time testing for the existence of a God since if one were found missing it would just create a needless mess.

So yes, some ideas sit outside the realm of science. But then again, when was the last time you had to worry about an infinite number of socks? In the absence of an infinite number of socks, the Axiom of Choice really does not matter.

So I think all practical considerations fall into science, but some of the more core underlying ideas do depend upon abstractions of mathematics and philosophy.

My belief is believing in any set religion or scientific theory is pointless, they all have the same probability of being correct which is very little, so why bother taking a chance dedicating your life to an ideology with a 1% chance of being right?

I have to admit, as much as I'd like that to be true, it isn't. I may many things that are not scientifically proved, just based on my culture and studies. However, everything i believe must fit into my logic.

Being a classically trained Philosopher, and having worked in politics...No, not everything I believe is based off of empirical research. Everything I believe IS however based off of things that are confirmable.

I take a few of my beliefs from science, but the overwhelming majority of them come from logic and personal experience.

I try real hard to not believe anything that contradicts my Bible. Sometimes that's not easy to do when circumstances are against us.
