Why are so many people obcesed with the "End times"? it's almost like they want disaster. This has been going on since the dawn of time so there must be something innate in humans that causes this desire.

Its no actually a innate desire, it is more along the line of seeing what is taking place. I don't think when you say "this has been going on since the dawn of time" that you take into account a few issues. If you are a non-believer then I am sure you will "explain" away these as nothing, but, you might consider them as well

Jesus taught in the end days you would not be able to tell the seasons apart form each other.
you call it global warming

Paul taught the in the end days there would be a great falling away of the faith,
You call it enlightenment

Paul taught that in the end days, Mothers would lose their natural desire to be mothers,
You call it choice

Paul taught that in the end days, children would betray there parents and even kill them
You call it discipline issues

John taught that in the the days all the world would watch Jerusalem, and its going ons, and most of the world would rise up against it,
you call it mid east crises

John taught that end the end days two prophets would die and lay on the ground for three days and the whole world would see it, for years many said how can that be?

You would call it satellite TV.

the list is quite long, but this is some of the reasons why.

The term apocalypse actually means cemetary and a secondary meaning that means a drastic change. The apocalypse doesn't necessarily mean that the world is going to end. The mayans famous end times calendar says the world is going to end on Dec 21, 2012. A lot of stuff is supposed to happen during that year. The hypothetical Planet X, also known as Nibiru by the Sumerians, is supposed to complete another revolution which is supposed to pass where the asteroid belt is now. When this happens, the mass of the planet is supposed to have an effect on the antarctic ice cap and the pressure is supposed to melt it covering the entire southern hemisphere. Sound familiar? At the apparent time of the deluge (world flood) the sumerians accounted all of this on their clay tablets. Our solar system is also supposed to switch polarities as a result of our passing through the galaxy to end up on the lower side instead of the top of the galaxy like we used to be. Our planets poles are also supposed to switch causing our electromagnetic field around our world to render all technology useless, majorly affect our weather and could possibly rip our atmosphere off the face of the earth. Physicists have recently discovered that during this time the universe is supposed to become 4-D instead of 3-D, (we already have four but time counts as a dimension). We are supposed to lose the time factor in our portion of the universe. A lot of cool stuff is supposed to happen and I plan on being around to find out what it is.

TIME HAS AN END

The great day of JAHWEH is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of JAHWEH: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers. And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against JAHWEH: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung. (Zephaniah 1:14-18)

The Bible teaches that at the end of the world all the wicked will come under eternal punishment in a place called Hell, and this time may be very near. There is much Biblical evidence that points to the fall of 2011 as the end of the world.

And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be TIME NO LONGER:

But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets. Revelation 10:5-7

Too many people play around with this concept and forget that they could die at any time which would in fact be the end of the world for them in a sense, better to be prepared for eternity each and every day because none of us know when we will suddenly be gone.

In the Bible, it mentions that "critical times hard to deal with" will be here. In fact, the main focus of Jesus when he was alive on the Earth was doing the will of his father and making his Kingdom known. The majority of the Bible speaks about God's Kingdom and how it will bring blessings and also an end to this wicked, unjust and disgusting world. --Daniel 2:44

Wouldn't you want to live in a better world than this one?

Scholars and church councils are taught by men, in the traditions of men, and they pass on those traditions to their children. The end times has happened 6 times, but men expect it to be the end of the world, it was not, it was the end of the age (seal). It happens in death, it happens in the spirit world, your body is nothing more than a house for your spirit. It is the spirit that lives, the body dies. The body profits nothings. The end will happen, but it will not take place until 2940 AD. No flesh will be saved, the meek shall inherit the earth. For Jesus said, I am meek and lowly. Jesus is spirit.

Each of knows we are going to die.

"You, your joys and your sorrows, your memories and your ambitions, your sense of personal identity and free will, are in fact no more than the behavior of a vast assembly of nerve cells and their associated molecules," as Francis Crick put it.
Our world is only real as a result of this behavior, and consequently, when we die, the behavior of the cells and molecules ceases. Each death is the end of a world.

What we do, I suspect, to persuade ourselves that the world will end with us. For this reason, each generation has its predictions of the "end times."

Let's just pray these people don't get any political power, since, especially in America, they have the ability to actually MAKE the end of the world come about. OH CRAP, we're too late!

More like there must be intuition that causes humans to expect that if we behave like racist, heterofascist, warmongers long enough eventually we will come to a day of reckoning. Armageddon is one possible future. This one possible future is based upon the premise of a global culture dominated by communities of faithful believers that behave like racist, heterofascist, warmongers. If we choose to behave like friendly, homotolerant, peace makers then this prophecy of Armageddon will not come to pass.

So what if they do? I'm really not too big on what we've made of society, myself. Capitalism, Communism, Fascism..Liberalism and Conservitism. All of our governing systems are established on shaky foundations and false premises. But with the world in its current shape, it would take away from our convenience drastically to fix it. Something major has to occur for that to happen, and I for one, hope it does.
