I came across this news report, and it opened my eyes. If Romans 13 wants us to surrender our civil liberties and follow George W. Bush, it is our duty as Christians to do so.

Won't you Christians do your patriotic duty and surrender all your liberties so that our country can stay Christian.

I heard about a kid who was beaten senseless on the street, then stripped naked and robbed of all his possessions, then thrown in the lake to die. I can't believe that an all-loving God would send this poor young man to hell, if he wasn't a Christian.

I'm a believing Christian by the way, it's just this has been nagging at me.

1 John 1:9 says we have to confess our sins, in order to be forgiven by God. However forgiveness of our sin is based on what Jesus did on the cross and was therefore unconditional. There seems to be a dilemme here. However I was recently told that the epistle John was written to the gnostics and not the Christians....has anyone else heard this or does anyone have any constructive comments.

(Deuteronomy 21:10-14 NAB)

"When you go out to war against your enemies and the LORD, your God, delivers them into your hand, so that you take captives, if you see a comely woman among the captives and become so enamored of her that you wish to have her as wife, you may take her home to your house. But before she may live there, she must shave her head and pare her nails and lay aside her captive's garb. After she has mourned her father and mother for a full month, you may have relations with her, and you shall be her husband and she shall be your wife. However, if later on you lose your liking for her, you shall give her her freedom, if she wishes it; but you shall not sell her or enslave her, since she was married to you under compulsion."

Someone asked god “God why there are so many religions in the world? If you want you can put all the verses in our brain while we take birth”.

God tells him “I love diversity that is why I have not created anything similar to each other. You watch grass; it might look similar, go near and see everything is different. That is why I have created this world. Everyone is different. Everything is different. It is my wish that there are so many religions and so many beliefs.”

“I am in the centre of the circle. You are given birth and made to stand on the circumference. Each of you have a radii to reach the centre (i.e., to reach me). You should move forward and try to reach me as soon as possible, on the given radii.. Instead you don’t make one set forwards. I keep on standing on the circumference and comment on every radii.

Four rabbis engaged in theological arguments, and it was always three against one. Finally, the odd rabbi out appealed. "God!" her cried, "I know I am right! Please, a sign to prove it to them!" Suddenly, from a sunny day, it poured. "A sign from God! See, I'm right!" The other three disagreed, saying storms often cool hot days. So again: "Please, God, a bigger sign!" Lightning slammed a tree. "Is that not a sign from God?" cried the rabbi. "A sign of nature!" they insisted, again making it three to one. Just as the rabbi is about to beg for an even bigger sign, the sky blackened and a booming voice intoned: "HEEEEEEEEE'S RIIIIIIIIIIGHT!" The rabbi, hands on hips, said, "Well...?" The others shrugged: "So now it's three to two."

I have had four violations today alone. I guess it just goes to show that people are able to dish it, but they can not take it. Heck, I am the one confined to a wheelchair...the ones who report me are probably walking around...dancing and jogging as I am writing this. Sad...just sad!

I don't understand how people at my school sin and don't repent, and then they get all the girls, the friends, the general "better" life, if you know what I mean. Don't get me wrong, these people aren't bad people, quite the opposite really. They just aren't Christians and say and do things that would be sinning to a Christian.

But how can God give these people the things I, a Christian who's trying his hardest not to sin, have prayed to have for a long time? And I still don't have it! I don't get it.

who call themselves Christians, on here are ridiculously ignorant of your religion?

For example, I have seen two who claim to follow Christianity, reply oddly about All Hallow's Eve (Hallowe'en) as being satanic and they steer their children far away from the holiday because in their mind it is "Hell"-oween.

One went on to further state that Christmas is the true holiday.

Doesn't that tick you off?
The primary Holy Day of Xianity is, of course, Easter and the days that accompany it. Not Xmas. And someone actually claimed that "shooting stars" are NOT meteors!

The First Charter of Virginia (granted by King James I, on April 10, 1606)
• We, greatly commending, and graciously accepting of, their Desires for the Furtherance of so noble a Work, which may, by the Providence of Almighty God, hereafter tend to the Glory of his Divine Majesty, in propagating of Christian Religion to such People, as yet live in Darkness and miserable Ignorance of the true Knowledge and Worship of God
William Bradford
• wrote that they [the Pilgrims] were seeking:

• 2) “The great hope, and for the propagating and advancing the gospel of the kingdom of Christ in those remote parts of the world"
John Adams:

McCain feels that the best candidate for the United States would be a Christian, as he believes that our country was founded on the values of that faith.

Here's that I think: A candidate's religion has nothing to do with their competence. Politicians use "faith" publicity to get votes based on platforms that are absolutely irrelevant to performing their job. In some cases, they allow religious ties to dilute the line between the separation of church and state, especially in taxpayer funds.

What do you think? Bring on any disagreement you wish; I'll choose the best answer based on the quality of the response.

My wife and three kids have been exploring different holiday customs and this year we decided to tackle the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration. What size shovel makes short work of the digging? A true spade or trench shovel?

And how long does it take to dig up a grave given that my wife and I will be spelling each other off while the kids simply use their garden trowels?

If the weather looks bad, is it prudent to start digging up my grandpa a few days in advance and cover up the site with a tarp? And if so, should we clearly mark the area so that nobody falls in?
