What answer did he receive?

a) Yes
b) No
c) Wait
d) None of the above

Now relate that to prayer. If you get no response, how do you know God's not just gone?

My child probably gets a "yes", but may get a "later after dinner".
I have waited 18 years to have an answer to my prayers. God was working all that time keeping the minds of my grandchildren strong and their souls safe. He has been so good to me and answers all my prayers.

Your question cannot be related to prayer for one simple reason: God HEARS EVERYBODY. God Knows everybody's hearts and He knows what we will think even BEFORE we do it!
So "re"considering your answer:
If your kid asks for candy, but you don't reply according to your request / wish... It means that:
- Maybe you know that for any reason those candies will be very bad for your child's health...
- Maybe it is not a good time for him to take the candies for any special reason, but when your kid recovers he will be given the candies;
By the way: Whatever you ask God has to be in accordance with His Words. If you ask Him to "kill your friend to marry his wife He will NEVER do it!
Matthew 7.11:
"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!
Psalms 34:18:
"The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit"

e) he didn't hear the answer because he was talking on his cell, watching a movie, and listening to a new cd all at the same time...and he'll SWEAR up and down he didn't get an answer...

kids are like that with parents...wanting instant gratification and having the attention span of a mosquito

we're like that with God...too busy with our own 'busy lifestyle' and 'looking out for number one' to LISTEN...

God is always there
He always answers

D. He needs to ask me again, then I'll give him an answer. And he needs to listen carefully and with understanding:

NO, you cannot have anymore candy today, it is bad for you.

You can wait until after dinner tomorrow, because then it shall be the right time for candy.

Now go clean your room.

Wait/ OR maybe none of the above... something else. A smart child will seek to ask you face to face, one of God's children will ask for clarity.

1. Sometimes God answers yes
2. Sometimes God answers no
3. Sometimes God's answer might include everything we pray for, sometimes some of what we pray for and sometimes none of what we pray for.
4. God knows what is best for us better than we do. After all, candy causes cavities, obesity and possibly diabetes.
5. Sometimes God's answer is to wait
6. Sometimes our prayers are prevented or delayed from reaching God because of Satan, sin in our lives and/or a lack of faith in God.

In Psalms we read, where can I go where you are not, to the bottom of the sea? to the deepest caves, to the highest mountains? Our heavenly father does not have such limitations as man does, There is no where you can go that you are beyond his sight, thoughts, love and concern.

Because God has promised that he will always be with us. We also know that the Holy Spirit dwells within us. God is not like human beings, He doesn't abandon His children.
