If you believe, then why you need to do a lot of rituals?
like:
1. Praying and reciting the rosary.
2. Believing in baptism of babies.
3. Believing Purgatory.
4. Calling the Pope Holy Father or priest father.
5. Praying for the soul of deceased relatives or kin.
6. Adding more books to the Holy Words of God.
7. Signing of Cross.
Therefore if these rituals you have is written in the Holy Words of God and instructing you of such; so where can you find it in God's Holy Words? Why, you have to do it?

After being on the site for a while now, I see the ladies are much more open to people and their beliefs, they don't knock them, even if they don't agree,

But some of the older men, not all of you, some. Wow! You guys really need to "get young at heart" again.

Get a little compassion, empathy and try not to be so dogmatic about what you think.

Sorry. I love ya all, but as the young people say. Chill, lighten up like the ladies on the site.

And we are all definately over 55. Common you guys! Be gentle, kind and loving! And don't give me all this Army, and Boot Camp ideology.

Now I'm gonna get stoned, as in pelted with rocks.

I don't think gay people are going to hell, nor do I believe in hell...but a lot of Christians, etc. think gay people are going to hell. So if we gays are damned to hell, from a religious standpoint, what motivation do we have to be good people??? (I know being a good person is the right thing to do, but if it's your belief that gays are definitely going to hell, that would give us no religious reason to be a kind person.

This question is for any atheists who used to belong to a religion and have since 'converted' to atheism. (Pun intended..lol) All are welcome to answer though. :)

I am not yet ready to wholly reject the idea of a god. What I do reject is a god anything like the one presented in the Bible. Before you 'officially' became an atheist did you consider other religions?

Also to anyone who considered being atheist and chose otherwise, what did you decide was right for you? When i say 'considered being an atheist' I mean pondered the idea that there was no god.

Of course it's not, but far be it from me to stop anyone from giving their opinion. If you really think you know it's a sin, tell me why.

If someone believes in God, as in the holy trinitarian God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, is it okay or correct to call God, Allah? Or is Allah not the same thing? Please explain your reasons. Thanks.

Do athiests just not believe in God or Jesus, or do they not believe in any higher power at all?

I read that the true Atheist was one that respects another's religion. One that keeps his own doubts about religion to himself. One that doesn't try to pull people away from their God because they believe that they're way better. Can't we all have different ways?? They don't believe in religion or spirituality, so why are they even here?? I'm not trying to sound mean, i'm just curious as to why they would discuss a religion they don't believe in?

1 Corinthians 5:11 - "But now I am writing you to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man."

1 Corinthians 5:13 - "While God judges those outside? Remove the wicked man from among yourselves.”

Titus 3:10, 11 "As for a man that promotes a sect, reject him after a first and a second admonition; knowing that such a man has been turned out of the way and is sinning, he being self-condemned".

Then we have:

Matthew 5:43-45 "...Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those persecuting you"

How would you explain that "apparent" contradiction?
No bashing please.
I'm sure someone will have a good thorough answer! :0)

Now he is saying we (US) are the ones responsible for 9/11.

He did this to just get Millions of $s of media coverage to Millitant Islam. And then he boasts that they don't have gays in Iran. Well, gays get the death sentence. So, if they are in Iran, they are in the closet.

Then he says there is freedom for Jews in Iran. Well? As long as they wear the color code & pay the extra tax humbled. (Same for Christians).

Do you think that a great mountain of a problem is growing in Iran?

I mean with the nuclear threat?

I remember so vividly, every morning, before school began, the bell would ring, and all the students would stand at attention to the flag, with their right hands laid on their hearts, while the American flag would be slowly drawn up to the top of the pole...all in silence, standing ever so still, then you hear all in of us sing, God bless America, followed by Pledge of Allegiance to the flag, followed by the National Anthem....then the bell would ring again...and all the students, myself included would quickly walk to our homeroom classes & begin our day in school. We were taught at an early age to honor our flag, what it stands for, our country. The year was 1971...and continued on until I graduated in 1978. There weren't any school shootings, metal detectors, or guns. Violence was not tolerated.

Have just been reminded by local newspaper article of an ever-growing group of Muslim college students at a local University in Miami, who feed the homeless every Friday. As well as supply them with clothing.

Do you have something similar in your city from the Muslims in your area?
