By reading a lot of posts here ie Cheryl E and others there is not just a non-belief, there is what I would call a hatred toward something they claim not to believe in. Huh.

Truth be told, I don't know.
In my Bible studyclass, we're doing this 'Biq Questions' series like Did Jesus really rise from the dead? or Is Christiantiy the right religion? and so on.
On if Jesus rose from the dead, atheists came up with a lot of theories that made LESS sense than Jesus actually coming back to lfie.
To me, atheists spend so much time trying to argue and prove there is no God and they're actually helping Christians like me believe more in Him. It makes no sense!
Strange.

Why do Christians call Atheists and Evolution names? By reading a lot of posts by Fireball and others, there is not just a non-belief in these things, but what I would call hatred to something they claim not to believe in. Huh.

To answer your questions, I don't call God names, I just "insult" Christians by doing it...it's fun. But please, also answer my questions as well...I'd like to know why.

i love the answers like some christian brother told me this what atheists think or atheists don't know about religion. I am glad the christians that don't want to be 'yoked' unto us non believers know so much about us just by staring at us or something. Ignorance seems to be a theme of the religious.
Why do i call your god names? i don't but i give him qualities, just like i give qualities to zeus, a very sexually promiscous god, and athena, a wise goddess. the christian god's characteristics are as illustrated in the bible, he is sexist, discriminates, vengeful, holds grudges, apparently never forgives and is very unreasonable (i mean accoring to the myth, i am being punished for something adam and eve did). People in any story have characteristics just like fiction novels

No I don't think that is true. It is not a hatred, but a belief. No one has proven he or she exists. No one has seen him or heard him,and I don't mean in the bible times, I mean now. If someone told you that he was speaking to god, that was not clergy, you'd have them committed. Face it believers, everything you believe in is cause someone told you to.

Well, it's more of a criticism of the social components of religion and the negative effects of fundamentalism. Some people believe that their religion is a mandate for everyone, and others bash scientific literacy by trying to fit their religion into a box. It's really only the fundamentalists that I dislike -- I don't see myself as insulting a non-existent entity, merely the holier-than-thous.

I don't believe that cows are holy either, but I say, "Holy Cow:".

It's just a form of expression without any meaning behind it. IJust like I put up xmas trees because they look cheerful, not for religious significance.

It's more to do with the harm that religion can cause (I'm not saying all religion is harmful), and the fact that religions have historically oppressed those who wish to express a different view.
Check out Richard Dawkins, he's far more eloquent and informed on the subject than I am, and although he can get a little vehement, he keeps it civil...
