Is damaging the air around others for your personal pleasure a Sin?
Is dropping the butts where they may causing an increase in Taxs to pay for the clean up a Sin?
Is killing animals with the toxins from those butts a Sin?
And this is before the histo-cultural factors like Smoking Racist White people who conviently forget WHY most of "those Black people" were relocated to (historically) support that filthy habit?
If it is not it should be.

It's a nasty habit and unhealthy, but of course it is not a sin - although some people do make you feel as if it is a sin - against humanity. I smoke, but I am trying to quit - but that is my choice and I do not like the pressure put on me or how some people make me feel as if I am something nasty myself, because I smoke. My brother and wife were visiting my home this summer - they are both ex-smokers - and they actually had the nerve to ask me to smoke outside if I wanted to smoke AND THIS IS MY HOME. If I had been visiting them, I wouldn't dream of smoking in their home and would have automatically gone outside. But asking me to go outside to smoke when they are visiting me in my own home takes the cake. As it is, I have cut down so much, I don't really smoke a lot. But if I do feel like smoking and I am in my own home I will and my guests (family included) can go outside if they don't like it. I am getting a little tired of being made to feel like a criminal, or defensive, because I smoke, even when I am trying to quit!
OMG - I just saw some of the other answers and I would have to say that the nuts are out in force today!! You'll need to take a rest to finish reading some of these answers, they are so long. One answer was so long, I had to have a smoke break! lol!

For a Christian their body is a temple for Christ. Any thing which harms the body is against the will of the Father which makes doing it a sin.

For some people it is a spiritual malady.
There is a mental/emotional dependency coupled with a physical addiction.
Is this a sin?
In that it separates a person from God's will in the body, mind and spirit - yes.

Of course it is. Smoking, like drinking booze, destroys parts of the living system. Even an 8 year old knows that smoking and drinking booze are activities that are not good for you.

I don't believe in the concept of sin. Only right and wrong. And smoking a personal choice.

Oh yes. Haven't you heard? It's the first amendment to the 10 Commandments.
Amendment 1- Thou shall not smoke or allow second hand smoke to enter the atmosphere.
As an aside, smoking is said to be the leading cause of global warming.

It depends on how you read into it our body is a temple and we are spose to take care of it. Is fast food a sin. Is not exercising a sin who knows.

Its not a sin, it's a choice, but some people who dont smoke and do not like the fact of smoking, think it is. But it's an opinion, if you think its not, its not to you. If another person thinks it is, it is to THEM. Its an opinion! :)

Nope, not a sin. Bad habit that I regret starting now, but not a sin. My body, my choice.
