I am Catholic and I really disagree with the Church. The Bible states, "a relationship should be between a man and a woman". Well, guess what? They can't help being born like that, it's not like they wake up and say "Hm, I want to be gay from now on- that sounds entertaining".
I think that gays should still continue to be good people, because I think somewhere in the Bible it says that everyone is equal and also that we /all/ should try to follow Christ and be good. Yes, I know the Bible contradicts itself, but if I were gay, i'd continue to be a good person because of the positive statements in the Bible, not the negative ones.
Idk if that makes sense but that's just my opinion.

You almost seem to be making the argument that a religion that includes a hell is necessary, because without the fear of hell, nobody, gay OR straight, would have any motive to be kind or decent. Are you sure you want to say that?
And religion has not cornered the market on kindness. There are lots of people who are perfectly fine people but don't adhere to any religion at all.

See i think the phrase: 'Gays are damned to Hell' is flawed not because I'm for homosexuals and what they do (hell no!) but because it sounds like a final definitive notion. That would be like saying that anybody that's murdered a person is going to Hell. No, it doesn't work like that; it's not an irreversible or unforgiveable sin. Assuming that being homosexual is a sin then like with any other sin that person should stop committing it, repent and try not to commit it with all their Heart.
(Again assuming that it is a sin in the first place.)

I am a queer Christian who doesn't believe in heaven or hell as a place you go after you die...
and I try to be a good person just because it's the right thing to do...
but I have to admit sometimes I want to be a good person just to confuse and frustrate all the people who think I might be going to hell!
But seriously, any fear-based theology doesn't make sense anyway because wouldn't God know you're only being good to get out of punishment? Wouldn't motive have anything to do with it then?

Homosexuality is just one of the many ways sin shows itself - one of the many ways, not just one. For me, it wasn't homosexuality, but a bad temper passed down in my family, and some other things that I won't mention right now.
God does love gay people. In fact, He loves humans - His creation!
But just like a loving Father (in fact, the ultimate Loving Father), He loves us just as we are, but that doesn't mean that He wants us to stay like that. He wants us all to repent. Those who are gay may not have made their choice to be so, but they can repent.
God, seeing the problem of sin, knew that ever since Adam's time, His creation - every one of them - were spiritually dead and separated from Him. So He sent His Son, Jesus, down to Earth to die for our sins, and then to rise again three days later. We cannot choose whether or not we want to sin; we have no choice, because we are born with a sinful nature. We do have the choice to turn to God. If not, then we choose instead to spend an eternity without Him.
Gay people are not absolutely damned to Hell. If they permanently ("permanently" would be the key word here) reject the Lord Jesus Christ, then yes they would be. If they do accept Him and become saved, however, repentance is in order. Homosexuality isn't His will, and He's made it explicitly clear in His Word, the Bible.
And whoever quoted 2 Samuel 1:26, that doesn't necessarily mean that David was in love with Jonathan - they had a deep relationship and David treasured Jonathan dearly above women, but that doesn't mean there were romantic overtones (or undertones) in what he was saying.
Anyway, if I ever had a son or daughter who grew up to become a prostitute (or gay, lesbian, bisexual), my love for them would not waver, not even for a second. That wouldn't mean that I would want them to stay like that. God is like that. He loves you, but He loves you so much that He wouldn't want you to stay like that.
Now, as for the question you've asked, I suppose your motivation for being a good person (according to the standard of this world) would simply be because it would make your life easier. Being mean and unkind only does these two things: ultimately, you get yourself hurt, and other people just end up not liking you. In a nutshell, being unkind is of no benefit, neither to you nor others.
Well, anyway, I hope I helped you or anyone else to at least some extent.

When I was born I did not wake up and suddenly ask God to make me gay. Who wants a life that brings out the devil in people. They want us dead they want us in the closet and they do not want us anywhere on this planet. So no it was not a choice to be Gay we just were born, and our sexuality came to be. Who wants to make a choice to be ostracised for the rest of their lives. God truly meant what he said love everyone.

This would be a sorry world indeed if somebody's motivations for doing the right thing were so selfish.
"I'm only doing good things to benefit myself. I I do good things I'll go to heaven"

being gay is NOT "a sin."
practising gay sex is "a sin"
according to the words that came from a disciple of jesus....not from jesus himself.also....being gay is NOT a choice.do you honestly think people would CHOOSE to live a life in which they are condemned by the church, openly mocked, beaten, even killed.dont be ridiculous.we were....after all....created in the image God gave us.He created me as a lesbian.sorry if it upsets you but its true. I myself, became a Christian and I felt the Holy Spirit help me through plenty of situations.but He didnt seem to have a problem with me loving women. Love is what Jesus was all about.Love.....

Did you know that before when the BIBLE was written, nothing was said about gays, and now that gays are coming out, it's all of the sudden in the BIBLE. Don't you think somone is messing around. Come on. It's all about what people think is right, not god.

The Christians I know do not believe this nor preach it. It is not any persons place to judge another and only God knows who is going to hell. Many Christians openly accept homosexuals.
